Came across this street performer while downtown yesterday. Some aspects of his routine were SO smooth that my first thoughts were "GIMMICK!!", but I think I was mistaken.

In the US there was a mass-marketed item towards the end of 2011 called the 'Fushigi Ball'. It is still in Walmart and a few other places I have seen. It is a contact juggling prop, sold with a DVD to explain a few basic handling techniques. Years ago, the musician David Bowie made a movie called 'Labyrinth' in which his character did a contact juggling scene. The interesting thing is that Mr. Bowie did NOT do the juggling himself. It was done by one of the pioneers of the art, standing BEHIND him, with his arms sticking out of the costume. He did the routine totally by feel, blind to his hands, making it appear as if Bowie was doing the work! Now if that is not talent, I don't know what is.

I guess In need to get out more. That is only about 2 hours from me. I was out last week during Spring Break but saw no performers.

Dale, it's always hit-n-miss in Heidelberg with regards to the Hauptstrasse street performers. That was the only time I ever saw this particular artist perform.
