Hello guys,
I am really excited about this release and I hope you will be as well!

Sticky is a DVD by Kevin Schaller (me) and Oliver Smith that contains 4 strong effects that you can perform using chewing gum. All the effects are very practical, organic, easy to perform and will leave your spectators astonished.

Torn & Fuzed:
Show a silver pack of gum and a different colored piece of foil from another pack. Visually make the colored piece fuse onto the silver foil, leaving it completely examinable and hand it out as an impossible souvenir.

Push Through:
Display a piece of gum inside one compartment of the gum pack. Have a spectator cup his hands underneath and visually push the gum through the compartment without any holes or slits leaving everything examinable.

Marked:
Mark one compartment of the gum pack as your prediction with an X. Have a spectator draw an X onto any compartment on the other side and show it matches with your prediction.

MentalGum:
Explain that there is only one piece of gum left inside the pack and have a spectator freely select a row and a compartment. Display that the last piece is sealed inside the exact location they just chose.
No force – any compartment can be named.

"Great pieces of astonishments with a fresh taste. Watch out for these kids." - Peter Eggink

Will be available soon!

I talk regularly with Oliver and Kevin and over the months they've both brain stormed their ideas for this project with me. There were loads of effects to begin with. And over a couple of months, they refined them by actually taking them out, performing them for real people, weighed up how powerful they were, streamlined the handlings until you're left with what you see here... Four practical, creative, organic, real-world gems!

They should be very proud of this project. Good work guys!

Are the tricks restricted to certain types of gum or gum packages? The reason I ask is that I would prefer not to look around for a specific gum that is not commonly found.

Thank you very much.

Thanks for your question!
You can use ANY pack of gum, the brand doesn't matter. It can be ANY blister pack of gum, here is an example:

Hello to Kevin,

These effects look great I would like to confirm 2 things.
1. That mental gum does not use a "hot rod" type count as that is the pocket that came up twice in the demo. Can the gum be shown in any compartment?
2. How does prep time compare to Richard Sanders Ultra Gum which while an excellent trick proved a little prep heavy for some?

Thanks for the question! There is NO "hot rod" principle or anything like this used, the spectators are able to name ANY compartment they like and even change their mind if they want. You don't have to count in a special way, nor need any psychological techniques. It works all the time with ANY compartment!

There is not really a long set up for the effects, it takes from 10 seconds up to a maximum from 2 minutes. Easy to set-up and as easy to perform! I bet you will have a lot of fun with them!

You also get everything you need to perform it. This is a win win situation. Even though I'm a card guy, I'd use the last 2 mentalism effects.

Keep it up with the good stuff, schample ;)

Hey all,
Kevin is a great thinker and has a great creative mind. I can only do 1 gum trick so if I had a battle off with Kevin he would kick my butt!

Its nice to see a mix of mentalism and visual magic as the routines and effects you get, give the dvd a good change rather than one trick stretched to hell.

Realy nice, modern and creative.... Great work

Well done K-Dog!

I have now had a chance to see some of the workings of these effects and I must say I am very impressed! Push Through is a storke of genius and so easy to set up, it would be a perfect effect to perform after something like Ultra Gum. Seriously all I need now are my 2 hands and some gum and I am good to really slay some people!

I cannot wait to see the finished product in all it's glory!

Great work Kevin, seriously, great work!

The trailer for this is looks very promising to me. Seems that Kevin and Oliver have created some excellent working material. Since I moved to The Netherlands, I can't perform Sugar Rush anymore because they do not seem to have the mini-Hershey's. Kevin and Oliver's effect(s) may be just what I am looking for.

Notice to all customers who pre-ordered STICKY from MadAboutMagic.com

Just had an email from a customer reporting that he has not received his copy of the product yet.
I checked the posting books and it looks like a problem has occurred. None of the packages picked up by the courier for US delivery from MadAboutMagic are showing in transit!?!

I will have the team send out replacements to all MadAboutMagic customers in the morning.

I will also be refunding all customers involved, in full for their orders, so they get their copy of sticky competely free of charge.

I would like to pass on my Appologies to those customers as MadAboutMagic wants to give the best customer service possible, and anything less than what we promise, just does not cut it!

Best wishes

Message: Posted by: GordonTheHypnotist (Jun 1, 2012 5:32pm)
Wow that is great customer service but alas I bought it from Penguin so no freebies for me. That is perfectly okay though after watching this DVD I think I might have paid double for it. It has been my favorite magic purchase in quite some time. I am a Hypnotist so I love magic that can be presented as influencing the thoughts of others. So I bought this for the Marked and the Mental Gum presentations but the Torn & Fused and the Push Through presentations also blew me away.

On to the review:

Dvd quality and production. It is pretty good...I never expect George Lucas type directing when it comes to Magic DVD's the camera work was decent and the sound quality was pretty good. The outside performances are in German but you will understand what is going on because Kevin explains it so well on the inside performance. 8.5/10

Torn & Fused: Very clever I wasn't thinking "Why didn't I think of that" because I don't think I ever would have. I was thinking "how did they think of using that product to do that. The set up is easy. The handling is pretty straight forward. It should not take more than a couple minutes of practice to get the one move down. Score 9.5/10

Push Through: I know its a funny thing to say about a trick using gum but this is pure eye candy! The method is incredible. It's a forehead slapper because you can't believe your eyes just deceived you like they did. 9/10

Marked: Mentalism at its finest. Uses an incredibly easy method so you can concentrate on presentation. A one time set up and you can do this anytime anywhere. You can even use a spectators new pack of gum. 10/10

Mental Gum: This is the main trick I bought the DVD for and it does not disappoint. The method is fantastic, The set up is easy and extremely clever.10/10

You can tell that Kevin and Olli put a lot of thought into this DVD and asked themselves the questions that we as magicians would have asked. They have taken their time and created some really organic pieces of astonishment. 47/50 is incredible for a DVD and I am impressed.

Is it just me, or does the piece of gum vanish in the 'push thru' effect? It looks great, but I assume that's not the point. I'm not quite sure I understand the 'torn & fused' What are you tearing? Do you show the torn open blister? Seems strange to heal something that was never shown torn. The mentalism tricks look great, particularly the X trick. Hoping the edit isn't leaving off too much of the 'work.' Looking forward to receiving this one.

Hey Platt,
the gum doesn't vanish in Push Through, it penetrates the tray. It might look like it vanishes on the trailer. For Torn & Fuzed, you tear the foil off of another pack and fuse it onto the silver one.

Thank you for your post.

I received the DVD today!

- The production of the DVD is first-class.
- Torn & Fuzed - sorry but I don't understand tenor of this trick?
- Push Through - is my favourit trick on the DVD! Very clever and easy!
- MentalGum - was my reason for buying the DVD but after watching the explanation ... I am not sure.
- Marked - another winner.

Thanks to Kevin and Oliver because I like their ideas with daily items like a pack of gums!

Hey guys I have been chatting with Kevin and I told him about my version of Torn & Fused that uses 2 different packages of gum. Not only is the foil moved from one pack to the other but the gum switches places in sealed compartments as well." Kevin liked this idea and said I can share it with others who have purchased the DVD.

"If you are interested in learning this PM me and I can ask you a couple questions to prove you have the DVD and you can have this as a free bonus handling"

Torn & Fuzed – This is one of those times that the method is cooler than the trick itself. You could have given me a hundred guesses on the method and I would have been wrong a hundred times. Very clever thinking. Unfortunately the effect leaves something to be desired. In a perfect world, you’d tear off the foil exposing the gum, then grab red foil from a different pack and reseal it with the odd color. Not sure ‘fuzing’ has quite same impact or even makes much sense. But the method...

Push Through – Another very clever effect. If you gave me one guess on how this one was done, I’d get it right. Yeah, I (and I’m sure many of you) have a pretty good idea from watching the demo how this must work, but none-the-less, very smart thinking. I imagine there could be some room condition issues here, but I like.

MentalGum – Super clever. Not sure if I’d really work this hard to regularly perform this, and it is angle-sensitive, but I love the effect and the thinking.

Marked- I figured this might be a dry erase marker trick. I was wrong. I like. Super simple and smart. I was afraid the demo might not be fair, but it actually is. Unquestionably my favorite effect on the DVD. And probably the only one I would perform with any regularity.

Overall, I love this DVD and wish there were more releases like it. It reminds me of how Jay Sankey and Paul Harris used to think. And it’s exactly the kind of stuff you’d find in Paul's AOA books. My most creative (though not always most practical) thinking took place years ago when I filmed Catapult! I had more time to screw around and experiment back then. Clearly these guys have that kind of time. I’m jealous. Watching this makes me want to pick up a pack of mints and stare at it until it gives.

Very inspiring stuff, here. Nice job guys.

Just recieved Sticky and I can say that I am extremely happy with my purchase.

You would never be able to guess how Torn and fuzed is done no matter how many times you watch the video or see an actual performance. I really like this effect. It can used with a variety of gum packs that I have already found thta have different and unique back designs. Even though this is my least favorite trick on the DVD it is very creatively done Kevin.

When I first tried Push Through I didn't think it would look this visual.. Easiest trick to perform on the DVD and it really looks like pure magic in front of the spectator. I think many people will figure out how it was done however. Just my thought.

Mental Gum is fantastic. There is the angle issue. Not great for a large group, buy easy to pull off for 2-3 people. A little bit of management is needed here. The reason I really enjoy it is that the gum can be popped out of the pack after you have revealed the marking on it. Really nice work Kevin. This will fry peoples mind. Nice mentalism touch here.

Marked is a fantastic gimmick. You are very creative in coming up with this. Just a small amount of practice needed on where to postion the pack and create the magic. I think that this will be performed the most by myself to friends and family. You can even use their borrowed pack of blister gum. Best trick on the video by far.

Thanks for a great DVD. Cant wait to see what you come up with next.

Can anyone of my fellow Americans help me out here.I bought 7 packs of gum already with the clear capsules and ALL of them are generic silver color.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Eric,

My name is Oliver Smith. Kevin and I are really happy you like the DVD. The gum which was used in the filming is called "Trident Splash" and is probably the best gum for the effect. I personally use the red trident gum when performing as I think it stands out more. It is available in the USA as I have spoken to a few people but unfortunately I don't know which stores. I will try and find out for you. If you can't find any then they are also available on eBay, thank you very much.

On the DVD Kevin explains how to show the entire pack silver before you fuze the piece on. Thank you for buying it and we hope you like it!

I have to say, though, there is no reason to show the pack as all silver before the effect. The specs don't know what's coming.

One thing I would do with the effect is fuse the piece on off center, between two blisters. Just looks a little more impossible that way.

Good idea Cameron ,piece on off center, between two blisters, just that I have seen a little thing from the vid that I wished I had not seen, do not wan't to give too much away on here and after carefull handling this could be carried off.oliver very cool trick can 't wait to get it ,all the best.

Well got mine today oooooooooooh very clever idea's ,the only blister pack I can get in shop's or supermarket's in my town is in fact Trident Splash Strawberry Lime which I use for Ultra Gum,so I am thinking of silver to go on the front's to stop some people who actualy use trident gum from sussing me out and it is quite possible some peopole will, but not if I use the foementioned for Torn and Fuzed,so on the look out for a silver front on a pack of gum.The other 3 tricks are real easy to set up and very clever, so back to my practicing of getting the moves right,so a big thumbs up to Kevin Schaller & Oliver Smith, all the best.

Having purchased the Sticky DVD by Kevin Schaller & Oliver Smith, What are your thoughts that were suggested of off centering the colored foil on the back side of the pack of gum and not showing the back of gum to begin the presentation?

I've been to drugstores ,i.e., CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid, local gas stations, etc., etc...

Can someone post a link or tell me where to find these packets for Torn and Fuzed?

Thanks,,,

In the 99p you can get 3 trident blue pack for 99p.

If you aren't able to buy gum with coloured foil in your city, you can purchase it online:

http://www.amazon.com/Trident-Splash-Strawberry-9-Piece-Packs/dp/B003N19SW4/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1346408228&sr=1-1&keywords=trident+splash

The one's I use are Trident Splash (Strawberry + Peppermint), Mentos Gum (Strawberry) and some cheap ones that I buy in a 99p store.

Having gotten Worker or the Week and being one of the highly recommended tricks of DVD, is it worth spending, in addition to the cost of the DVD, the additional price of purchasing gum online just for one trick off of the DVD?

Personally, it would have been nice to have known that these packets were or have not been available locally for some time in the States and I'd have to spend an additional $$$$.

Just a rhetorical question/ thought.

Hi Allen,

Its a good point and maybe something that we should have mentioned before but we spoke to some people in America and thought that Trident was a worldwide brand. Also, Torn and Fuzed is the only trick on the DVD which needs a coloured foil. The other 3 can be performed with any type of blister pack. Sorry again though.

I think 'Marked' could have sold from Ellusionist as a one trick DVD. The foil fusion and gum penetration are O.K, the other stuff is killer.
