If you are the one cutting the deck, you can try changing the order of things: Do the Spin Pass at any position close to the middle of the deck, as you move the deck closer to you to leave room on the table, but don't complete the pass. Instead immediately cut the "top" portion to the spot you just cleared. Return with the hand to place the remaining half on top.
