Do you have an videos demonstrating its use? The description is intriguing but there aren't enough details on it.

Will this have an option to control bluetooth as in using iPad for music and iPhone to comtrol.
Also, is it possible to have a trial period or trial version. The price point is high for an app that may or may not fill someone's needs. Maybe the trial version only let's you have one play list with limited number of songs to try.
Just my thoughts.
Thanks

Carl,

Though I applaud you for this App.

However, it is $60.00 bucks.

Winamp is Free.

You got to drop the price to start seeing purchases.

Plus your review from Paul Rohmany is not credible. The guy reviews and sells everything.

I can properly review it if you want.

The ShowCues app plus a remote will set you back $110. A simple but extremely effective way to control your show music.

Lets compare
A Virtual Soundman was nearly $1000 - no longer available
MP3 Tech is $1800 with the readout display
even the DigiSelect will set you back over $190 (and you need a laptop - add another $250 minimum)

A vast number of people own and use iPods, iPhones and iPads... (9.75 million, 16 million, 7.3 million respectively sold in 2011)

With ShowCues, you can use the device you likely already have. If you don't already have one, you can buy a iDevice refurbished for a fraction of the original cost with a full warranty.

Currently Best Buy is offering the iPhone 4 for $49. (Cowboom has the iPad 2 for $310 and an iPod touch for $145)

So for as little as $160 you can have a new iPhone, Show Cues and a custom programmed RF remote (including the appropriate cables - a $20 value!).
You could buy an iPhone, iPod, AND and iPad and still not spend as much as you would for the MP3 Tech.

Simple, effective and affordable.

$60 for an app may be high, but when you see what it does and compare it to other systems, its a great deal.

That's the problem. I haven't seen what it does. I've just seen a list with no demo nor user guide to familiarize myself with what it does and how to use it. I'm not interested in spending $60 to find out I don't like working with it.

Shawn,

Actually its $75-$100 for a Pre-owned Netbook.It has a built-in display.
PC Remote $20-$65.00
Winamp Software= Free

Total Cost $95.00 (low-end)

By the way, I doubt the ABT remotes are custom programmed.

VS.

IPod used $40
ABT Remote $30
VGA Cable $30
Show Cues $60
Portable Video Display $100
Total Cost $260

However you can't use the remote receiver and VGA out Cable at the same time.

Actually, g0thike - you're a mile out!! I currently use an iJet remote in all my shows, and when I saw this app, thought I'd give it a try. I have an iPhone and an iPad already - so what's to lose.

The app is very, very good indeed. I bought it for my iPhone, but put it onto my iPad too, and it works a dream. You launch the app, press 'SELECT TRACKS' - you then select a playlist for a show (which you set up in iTunes), press 'add all songs' and you're all done. As soon as you tilt your device into landscape mode, the display fills the screen - on an iPad large and clear enough to be seen across the biggest stage.

The display shows - The Track Name in BIG white letters on a black background, and below there's a coloured button in the corner.
It displays one of three colours - YELLOW - The next track is cued and ready to go. GREEN - The track is playing. RED - the track is fading out.

It really is simple to use and easy to see. This will work with a current iJet Nav remote. The only thing is, to fade a track (and it's only a small thing) you need to hold the skip forward button on the remote for a fraction longer - almost like you want to Fast Forward the track you're on. This will activate the fade out. When the current track finishes, or you fade out, the next track will auto cue and you just press play when you're good to go.

I've spoke to Tim at iJet this week, and the custom remote (and it is a custom remote for this app) has a designated fade button on it, plus all the usual great features you get from iJet.

So REAL costs:

iPhone or iPad: COST $0 You already have one, or how are you buying this app??
Custom Showcues iJet Remote COST $49.99
VGA Cable COST $0 NOT NEEDED - the display on your iPhone or iPad is used
Show Cues COST $60
Portable Video Display COST $0 NOT NEEDED - See above!!

TOTAL COST $109.99 - for a kick ass, up to date modern slick looking bit of kit!

I've used this all week in shows, so it's still new to me - but it ROCKS. Great system, great price! I'll try and post a video review on YouTube in the next few days!

P.S. I am not affiliated to either of the companies making these products, I just appreciate quality and anything that makes my show look and sound more professional.

Gary

P.P.S. Macs ROCK! You can stick your PC's!!

G0thike,

I am sure you could rig up something cheaper to run your sound and that's fine but it would not have half the features of Show Cues. Nor would it have the slick interface and yes we have a custom remote built to my specifications just for use with Show Cues.

As the add says it is by professionals for professionals and many of them are buying Show Cues. For the working Pro who wants the features we offer and to control a show from their iPhone, $60 is a great price! In fact I would have bought it at twice the price.

BTW Paul Rohmany is a well respected working pro and not affiliated with my App in any way, your attack on him totally unfair!

Thank you Shawn and Gary!

Aloha,
Carl

Carl,

Gary Dunn said that he already uses a ABT IJet remote with his shows. "I currently use an iJet remote in all my shows....This will work with a current iJet Nav remote". He bought your ShowCue app and it worked with his existing ABT IJet.

Currently it sells for $24.95. So that brings me to the conclusion that either Gary Dunn is lying or your marking up those remotes by 50%.

Also your app was uploaded into Itunes on the 14th with a Paul Romhany review. As we speak, your app has no reviews on Itunes. Paul, though a working professional reviews everything, I even own one of his products. I am puzzled how Paul installed the App before it was on Itunes.

FYI, a laptop would run circles around your ShowCue app. Las Vegas and Broadway Professional shows run on computers.

I do recommend a 50% off sale for your APP for the first 30 days.

The existing iJet remote does work but an even better remote especially made for Show Cues, as I told you, is available and comes with dock, cable and adapter. Everything you need to hook up.

Several people had access to the App before it was on iTunes. Most developers use beta testers to work out the App before it hits the App store.

This App is made so you don't have to carry a laptop. You already carry your phone now use it to run your show.

You are not getting the point at all and wrong on all your conclusions. I don't mind if Show Cues is not for you but don't post your incorrect assumptions, wrongly accuse people or call them liars. You simply don't know what you are talking about.

The App is selling very well already and will not be 50% off, it is already at a low enough price point and even that was decided after talking to many working pro's, some suggested it sell for more!

Do you have a link for the remote?
Also does the app prevent the screen going to sleep?

A suggestion for a future revision... Have a visual alarm - e.g. The screen flashes red.

James

G0thike,

Well, I've never been called a liar before on these pages....

I don't understand why you're being down on this app. It's a well designed piece of kit for the working pro. It's not designed to run a West End Musical, or a Las Vegas Show, but for me and hundreds of others out in the 'trenches' gigging for a living, it's fantastic!

I used this at all my four gigs yesterday. A kids Birthday Party, a First Holy Communion Party, a 60th Birthday and finally at The Scottish Hotel Awards 2012 for an audience of 2000. The first three gigs, I worked solo with my iJet Nav remote.... No problems at all! It's reassuring now that I can glance at the iPad and see the next cue ready to go. The final gig last night, I handed my iPad to the sound engineer to run my cues - which he did, superbly. He LOVED this app - quote 'I'm having that!'

I don't know about you guys Stateside, but here I paid £40 for Show Cues. I don't class that as expensive for a well thought out and easy to use app.

Gary

Hey Guys,

This sounds like a fantastic, well thought out app to me. I own an ipad 3 and I will be ordering today. I owned 2 different versions of Virtual Soundman (7.0 and icue2) and they could be finicky.

Carl, I own an ijet. It is unclear about the difference in your remote. Can you share the differences between he remotes?

Also, what is the range on your remote?

Thanks again for putting this product out!

Warm regards,
Lou Leventhal

Lou,

The existing iJet remote does work but I had an even better remote especially made for Show Cues by iJet. The biggest difference is the new remote has a button added for doing the fade-out. The current iJet remote uses the FF button to fade and go to the next track but because it does double duty, it takes a slow soft touch to do the fade. The new remote solves that problem with a dedicated fade button. It also has a nicer size, look and feel. The range is 150 ft. around corners and through walls.

Enjoy it and Thank You!
Carl

Does this have an autofade with an auto pause on the next track? I do agree that a video demo would be great. I am excited about this though. I am not switching to a PC.

Gary Dunn,

I apologise if you misunderstood my intent, I never called you a liar, you just helped confirm that the regular IJet works with the ShowCue app. Read my above Post carefully.

The idea to use a IJet with a Blank Song" was an idea that Jason and I shared in this forum back in 2005. I never earned or did want to earn any money from sharing that information, I did it to help out, and I never wanted to take credit. I rather remain unknown.

I have shared that idea with countless people and have shared advice, blank songs and have field tested ipod remote from Griffin, Scoche, ABT and Maxwell.

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=245161&forum=11

The wording on the website for the ShowCue app suggested that it required a "Custom" remote to work. However that site has been taken down. Though I am still under the suspicion that other remote that has the fade button is this one:

http://www.buyijet.com/top-products/ijet-nav-elite-black.html

It has a cable and dock receiver, I am just trying to save people money.

I am not against an Ipod/Iphone being used for controlling music in a show. As a matter of fact I notify the MagicCafe members of developments that I find. Here is an example from 2009.

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=339286&forum=11

So, as I said it before, I think the App idea is great, I havn't tried it though. But it's a little pricy for an Itunes App. I am the DUDE that stared the IJet-Ipod, blank song system, so why would I be against something that I share and still share with performers for FREE.

G,

I am going to stop going back and forth with you and your "suspicions' or other accusations. They are incorrect. Yes you can use any remote you wish but only one has been specially made for Show Cues with a special button to work the exact way I wanted it to work, and it will only be sold by the supplier listed on my website (I don't sell them myself). The remote he sells simply works much better with Show Cues and worth the price. I like to save people money as well but again you don't have the facts and so you do not know what you are talking about and simply misleading. I can also say that people who have bought Show Cues were very happy to pay the price for it. It cannot and should not be compared to the price of an iPhone App, It is much more valuable to the working performer. Also my website has not been taken down and the site that sells the remote is has not been taken down. Please stop passing along bad information, I don't think anyone is appreciating your posts here.

I do see the value to some performers for your App.

I am also really knowledgable and know what I talking about. Considering I started and still update the most visited thread on Economical Show Control on this forum, maybe a person or two appreciates my posts, recommendations and advice.

Good luck on Show Cues sales.

I once (before I got my iCue2 systems) tried a sound system that utilized a Mac laptop, and it seemed decent except for finding a place to put a laptop for smaller shows. Example: you use a 1-speaker system and put it up front of the performance area, as you would in a library. Where would the laptop be sitting. If you had a stage area with wings to work with, that would be great. You could get all your cues visually with a pic of what effect goes with what track and get your time alerts, too. Most of the shows I do aren't in that situation, so I went with something that had a smaller source, an iPod that I could attach to the side of my Anchor Explorer Pro with Velcro. This new Show Cues sounds awesome for when my 2 iCue2 systems give out. I'd love to see the remote. I'd get an iTouch for this specific purpose.

Me too. The Paypal interface doesn't seem to work properly. I sent a message through their web site but I didn't get a reply. I think I might now wait until I hear a few reviews before getting the app. It always makes me nervous when a tech company can't even get their web site to work. :)

I have not tried Show Cues but to defend the PC style Apps, like DigiSelect, I am able to have my PC plugged in so power is not an issue. If I am not mistaken you have a choice of plugging in the Iphone or using the Remote not both. Also, The PC apps can control my lighting, Smoke machine, lasers and any other effects. I realise not every magician needs this capability but it is nice to know you can do it when the opportunity comes up.

Does it have the ability to set default volume levels for each track? For example, I have tracks that I like to play softly in the background, and other tracks that need to be pumping. I would like to set a master volume on the mixer, and then all my tracks will be at the right volume and not require someone to adjust them.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (May 26, 2012 02:01PM)
Socalmagic —The update will have a master volume level that will return the volume to your preset level after each fade out. But at this point there is no individual settings for each track. You could use the volume up and down on the remote.

@GrassosMagicTheatre — The difference in price is because the iPad will soon have extra features unique to it because of the screen size. Plus you get the advantage of a larger screen and higher resolution graphics.

Thanks for asking!

I've bought the app and it's well done. I know that the price seems out of line with the rest of the app store, but remember this is a niche product...

The reason people make money on $0.99 games is that they get a bajillion downloads. This app has a much smaller market. To make it a viable business model they have to price accordingly. Traditional app store economics don't apply here.

I've got my remote on order. I love my MP3-Tech, but I refuse to haul it to birthday parties and stuff. If this works I'll be able to jack it right into my Happie Amp and be ready to rock and roll!

fixed sound between tracks
added volume slider
added no pause option
added auto fade all option
added change pause to fade option
new instructions and video

Does this program allow you to set up cues kind of like a cue sheet?
I currently use http://www.baxeldata.com/cueplayerprem.html on my pc which works fantastically but does not have any ability for a remote.

What I really like about it is you can set states for each cue so for example when you press fade to automatically move to the next track or to pause and wait for a command to start. You need to take a bit longer to set up the cues but I have found it is great because it makes it really hard to stuff up any cues and it is easy for a novice sound person to work.

Does this program allow you to set up those sort of settings.

Like Gary, I too bought the App 'blind' to see what it was like, because it sounded good, and I already had the iJet remote.

I bought the iPad version, because I wanted the bigger screen display than an iPhone.

I back up totally what Gary has said about this App - it really does do what it says on the tin, and I am well happy.

I don't have the custom remote, but what I want it for I am not worried about fading the music out - if, in the future, I do want the fade out function, I will buy the specially altered remote.

Wow, that's a lot of 'I's, sorry folks, but I really am impressed with this App.

Best wishes,

I have never seen an app with two prices for different products. Do I have to py twice if I want them on both machines? I'm really close to purchasing it, but this just turned me off.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Jun 3, 2012 07:40AM)
Grassos, Many but not all iPhone Apps have different prices for their iPad counterparts. In our case it is because the iPad version will have more features due to the larger screen size. If you want it on both devices and don't care about the iPad resolution or extra features, then get the iPhone version as it will run on both devices if you press 2x button on your iPad but the resolution is not as good but workable.
Some of the features we are planning for the iPad version is to have a teleprompter or written cue mode for speakers, comics etc. who don't use music but would love to have cues and the countdown timer, etc.
At this time I am working on the first update to the iPhone version followed by the iPad version. There are already a lot of new features and changes coming to both and I am sure you will love it!
I hope that clears it up for you.
All the best,
Carl

Carl,
When do you expect to release the updated Iphone app? It seems to have a lot of important upgrades.
Thanks,

I will purchase it immediately when the price iPad version goes down to match the iPhone's
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Jun 5, 2012 08:47AM)
Socalmagic, I am working on the upgrades while on the road for 2 weeks and expect them to be done by the time I get home and ready to upload to Apple. Grassos, the iPad price will probably go up at least another $10 once all it's extra features, unique to the iPad screen, are added.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate how responsive Carl is. I had a couple of features I wanted to see in Show Cues and he's working on it! He responded to my emails very quickly, too.

I just purchased Show Cues yesterday and have begun working with it. I have several shows next week and will use it there and give my feedback on it. So far, it seems great.

Michael,

Got your message, will reply properly to you later today as I'm just heading out to another gig tonight.

Carl,

I don't use the timer, simply because this is a show I perform hundreds of times a year and I know exactly how long it runs for. However, I have several shows later this month where I have a 10 or 15 minute spot to perform, the timer will be very handy in these gigs to keep me on track!

Here is what has been done with the update thus far. I am still trying to include two more really cool features before submitting it (a table view and pop-up cues option).
Show Cues 1.1

fixed sound between tracks

added volume slider
added no pause option
added auto fade all option
added change pause to fade option
added larger playback-state indicators
added volume up and down with remote

new instructions and video
new play buttons
new timer and alarm keypads
new settings screens

I haven't pre-ordered the Happie Amp Ultimate Control but, if this works the way I hope it does, I won't be looking at that any longer. Show Cues should do everything I need so it will take care of my needs.

Carl,
On another thread you mentioned you were developing a hands-free magnetic remote. That is very useful, but I thought I would reccomend offering the hands-free remote with a pocket remote on the same frequency. That would allow you to start the music hands-free or from your pocket, as well as skip tracks and control volume from your pocket. I'm looking forward to the update!

Hi
I currently use an iPod with set playlists for my shows. Each track has silence in between the tunes.
Can someone tell me what benefit this programme would give me over my current set up?

Thanks

Chris
Message: Posted by: Michael Messing (Jun 19, 2012 11:23AM)
You won't have to put silent tracks between the music tracks, you will have the ability to fade the music out and have the next track back at the correct volume (without having to try to do this manually), you'll have a very clear user interface that has color coding so you know whether the iPod is paused, playing or fading out.

The biggest thing for me is the ability to fade the music. I have some tracks I have to end early and I don't like ending them abruptly.

Thanks Michael.
I've now seen the Happy Amp remote and confused as to whether this would be a better investment?
Anyone else looked into both?
Message: Posted by: Michael Messing (Jun 19, 2012 09:13PM)
I have considered both but, since I already have an iPod Touch and an iJet Nav remote, it made more sense to go with Show Cues. At this point, Show Cues is being updated at the end of the month, according to Carl. If the update works as described, Show Cues will do everything I need.
Message: Posted by: garydunn (Jun 20, 2012 02:34AM)
I agree Michael, the updates sound great. So nice to have an app that we can suggest ideas for that are actually taken on board! Well done Carl!

Ultimately I'd like to control the music via an ankle switch or some other device that's hands free to control. Could this system be used for such operations?
Message: Posted by: Michael Messing (Jun 20, 2012 08:47AM)
Carl has stated that he is working with iJet on trying to come up with a magnetic switch, which I presume will be an ankle switch. Whether that will come through, we don't know yet.

This is exciting news! Since it runs flawlessly, you must have found the resolution to the garbled music issue when you hit the fade button! This is awesome! Hopefully you will share your resolution with Carl and Shawn, so they can resolve the issue for everyone and replace all of ours that are defective!

Congratulations on being so busy with gigs! It is great that you have used this in real world conditions such as Theaters, Corporate and Festivals all in less than the 30 day period Show Cues has been on the market!

Good Job!

Not strange at all! Congratulations to you as well on your successful business! As I told someone else, I am always happy to see other good entertainers do well. It is great for all of us in the business, because we all know of at least one or more out there that make a bad name for the art of magic.

Back on topic of Show Cues, I must say I really do want it to work! In my earlier post I was really hoping that perhaps another technology guru might be able to help expedite the process of fixing it.

When the issues finally get resolved and our defective remote gets replaced with a working one, I will be the first to sing its praises! In fact I think it has the potential to blow all other cuing devices out of the water because nearly everyone has an iOS device to use it with!

Under6, I have posted this before, and I will post again. This is for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad users who want to use the ijet Nav remote.
1. Launch your playlist on the device and hit play. You should hear the music coming thru the internal speakers.
2. Connect the ijet receiver to the port on the bottom of the device.
3. After a few seconds, the sound will stop coming out the internal speakers, as soon as this happens, connect your line out to the headphone socket.
4. Check play, pause, volume etc via the remote - you should be good to go.

If you still have issues, try resyncing the remote as per ijet instructions.
If this still doesn't resolve the problem try new batteries in the remote.
If all else fails, contact support at ijet!

I believe Carl said you can use the iPhone version on the iPad but can you do the reverse...iPad version on iPhone...

Also, gotta say this is brilliant...I am glad I took the time to research today. How fast can they have a remote to me? I have an iJet remote, but want the custom one instead. Im in Canada and would love to get this into my show ASAP...

That being said, can Carl or someone go into how to set the track volume level for those pieces you want only sometimes to be say 50% volume level
That is, I know I could use software to make a track with lower volume but noticed the Happie Ultimate controler will have individual track level feature built in.

It would seem an APP could do this as well. I heard about ipods being able to set track leel but my generation of ipod does not seem to work after you adjust it in itunes. And I think that that is an acorss the board level change that if you make it in itunes in one playlist it will be for the song in all playlists.

Also can anyone explain, if you do not have the "special" remote, how hard is it to fade? Earlier on one of the first pages it states this is via the FF button.
How hard is it to fade vs FF a track. You can RR and FF right?
Message: Posted by: Kevin Ridgeway (Jul 17, 2012 10:21AM)
The Go Button app allows you to set volume for each track individually. You can even have the same song in your playlist twice with different levels for each.

The other great thing about the Go Button app is that you can play multiple tracks at once. For instance a song and a sound effect. You can stop any one of the tracks while the others keep playing. The app has the songs actually loaded into the app and not just playing them from your normal location of music. This allows you to make non destructive changes to the track. For instance, you can change start time & end time of each track, auto follow, loop, etc.

So far there is not a good remote I have found that works with the Go Button app. We have Show Cues as well, and see pros/cons and limitations of each app. Right now we are also playing with Apple TV, so we can send the music wirelessly to our sound system.

Go Button App sounds cool too!
I like the non destructive features. Although mabye it is a backwards step that it has to put the song in the app . that is it will eat up space with modified duplicates.
Message: Posted by: Kevin Ridgeway (Jul 20, 2012 09:47PM)
I believe it has to be done that way...so it truly is working with the file itself, versus pointing to a directory. Again we have both apps...pros & cons for both, places & situations for both. They are both a great advancement and I look forward to see how they progress.

Well, at last, the custom remote is here and road tested. There was an issue with the original unit which I received over three weeks ago, and Shawn was quick to email all customers and advise them of this. It has now been resolved, and a new one arrived a couple of days back. After a few problems setting up the remote, I have to say it now works perfectly, and the fade is extremely smooth and totally seamless. I'm a very happy bunny!!

A couple of things worth pointing out if you're going to use this remote:

1. You must switch OFF all the fade options in the settings menu in Show Cues as the software will otherwise get very confused.
2. Make sure the volume of your tracks is set at 100%

Apart from this the remote is fantastic. Well done Shawn & Carl!

You can say that again. I'm having huge issues with my show cues! It does what it like. It plays music when it likes- even in the portrait mode! It stops and starts playing at random times. If I turn the music down using the remote then pause and play, it returns to its loud state! That can't be right?!
I've read and re read the instructions, watched the video. This is getting on my nerves...

On a plus side; Shawn has resolved my remote issues. So at the moment, that is good!

Trickychris, If you are still having any problems with the Show Cues App itself, send me an email and perhaps we can arrange a Skype session online so I can walk you through it.
The music returns to the level you set on the settings page after each track. It does not start and stop at random times, as I said maybe a Skype session and I can see what you are doing wrong and walk you thru the App.

Thanks,

From Sept. 2012 MUM Magazine (official publication of the Society of American Magicians)

Carl Andrews is not only a designer and programmer of iDevice apps, he is also a working professional magician. When his friend Shawn Popp suggested that he create an app to play music cues, he went at it with passion. The result is the most professional program I have ever seen called Show Cues.

There are so many features to this app I won't have enough time to go through them all.

A wonderfully written manual and a professionally thought out program makes this a must for all performers. - Bruce Kalver, Tech Tricks column in MUM magazine.

Ok so I had promised a review of this product months ago so here it is.

Customer Service:
It has to be said that I paid for the remote in May and because of delays and the fact that I was one of the unlucky ones to get one from a bad batch I only received a working remote last week. Throughout this time both Shawn and Carl kept me well informed. Shawn even offered me some extras to make up for things.

Both Carl and Shawn were VERY helpful as I was learning the software and exchanged several e-mails with me and offered Skype sessions. As it turns out I wouldn't even have needed there help if I had read the instructions properly.

The Software:
The software is very easy to use. Loading songs is as easy as can be and having all the songs in your iTunes library easily accessible without converting them to mp3 is a real plus. The songs are also really easy to rearrange. The cue sheets work really well and can be very helpful to your soundman. The clock and timers are a good feature as well on occasion.

The software can get a little touchy sometimes if you have a lot of apps running so it is recommended that you fully turn off your iPad before running it.

The one problem is the fade out. There are two ways to fade out, the software fade and the hardware fade. When using the software fade there is a slight hiccup in the music as the command goes through. This is a known issue. It is only for a fraction of a second but is noticeable.

The hardware fade activates more smoothly without a hiccup but does not fade completely. There is quite a drop off in he volume at the end. It also takes quite a while to fade out and cue the next song at the proper volume level. It takes 18 seconds so you can't go right into the next song.

The Remote:
Personally I was disappointed in the remote. It is a key chain remote so it is quite small. The buttons are very close together and they don't have much of a feel to them. In my opinion it would be very difficult to use the remote in a pocket or without looking at it. The software also does not react well if you push the wrong button and getting back to a point where things are ok can be difficult.

Overall
I never use a soundman and the ability to fade out music is a must for me. I am also unwilling to accept the slight hiccup in the music when using a software fade. So for me the weaknesses in the fade out and in the remote make this a deal breaker. I may use this in smaller, less formal shows with limited sound tracks (perfect to run a Vanishing Bandana/Banana track) but not in larger shows with multiple sound tracks.

It is a perfect backup system for me though because it is very inexpensive and easy to transport as I always have my iPad with me anyways.

I will keep a close eye on the development of this product!

Hi Carl,

So, with the new version in beta testing, will the hardware fade out on the remote that needs 15-18 seconds to cue the next track be unnecessary? Or, have the new remotes that fix that problem come out yet?

Thank you for the info!

Sincerely,
David
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Sep 12, 2012 03:21PM)
David the remote question, Shawn can answer better but I believe the time has been improved, that's the hardware.

With the software update there are more options to fading, a fading pause option so you can play someone up on stage, do a fading pause and then play them off stage right where you left off. The seeking next button fade option works best for me and has no delay.

Thanks,
Carl

Carl,

Thank you for the reply. Sorry, what does the seeking next button fade do exactly?

Sincerely,
David
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Sep 13, 2012 11:15PM)
David, it fades out the track and cues up the next track. It is just one of three different ways you can fade show cues. Some prefer the hardware fade, I prefer the seeking next fade, it's faster.

Thanks,
Carl

Another Show Cues iPhone/iPad App Review:

"I gotta say this is without question the best software option for playing music hands down. It's beyond great. I have had every system you can think of, including the mp3 tech and this blows them all away, ESP with these new updates. I'm not sure what else you plan on doing to improve this, but it's phenomenal. Well done!" — Michael Bourada

Hi David,
I have the remote and it doesn't come with a belt clip. I use a carabiner that has a canvas strap and a key ring hanging from it. I attach the remote to the key ring portion. Not as nice as a clip, but functional. At least the remote has an "eye" on the body, so you can devise a method for attaching it to your belt.

Since the kind people at Apple decided to change the connector and make a whole bunch of accessories obsolete, I was wondering if there are plans for a remote that would work with the iPhone 5?
Message: Posted by: David Garrity (Sep 20, 2012 07:54PM)
Sammy,

Thanks for the info! I'll get an extra clip from the IJet store to go with it. I am used to running music from my belt so that will work great.

David

OK, I just got my Show Cue Remote and when I plug it in to my Ipad everything go's MUTE? Can someone tell me how to get this to work? Just wondering? The program is AWESOME....
Message: Posted by: Sammy J. (Oct 17, 2012 06:43PM)
Have you got a cable plugged into the headphone jack? This is required with the remote. You want to plug the receiver into your ipad, wait at least 3 seconds, then plug a cable that is connected to a speaker source on the other end into the headphone jack. The sound will come from your speaker source.

When using the remote the sound function on your iphone or ipad (with the internal speaker) won't work. You must hook up to a speaker via the headphone jack.

Hope this helps!

Sammy

Sammy is correct. The instructions tell you the correct order to connect the dock and cables. If you do not follow the instructions you will not hear sound.
That should solve your problem.

Edd, They are out of stock at the moment, should be back up soon.

Until then a couple suggestions: When not using the remote, I plug my iPhone into a DI Box and operate from my bag on stage or as Wayne Rogers suggested on our FB page, use a belt pack to wirelessly connect the iPhone to the sound system and control Show Cues from stage.

Thanks!

I added my music tracks to the Show Cues library. I don't think there are any duplicates, yet I am seeing duplicate tracks in the app. Did I do something wrong when I added the tracks?

Thank you,
David
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Oct 24, 2012 01:31AM)
Thanks Jon!

David look at your selected playlist from the settings "cues & playlist" button. This will be a table view where you can add, delete, and move tracks. Check there for duplicates. You can also check the table view right after you select the playlist. If there are no dupes in the table view, there will be no dupes in the App and if you do see dupes, you can delete them from the table view.

An interesting thing is that as German I had to order RF based remotes in the US, they are not on the market here due to strong regulations concerning radio frequencies... why it is also a pain to use radio mics over here. You can and I do, but you've to invest a lot - not only money. ;) Jan

I've been using this app from (almost) day one. Last night I performed in front of 350 men at a Sportsman's Dinner where I was the first of three after dinner speakers. The sound desk was almost 30 meters from the stage, so I checked my remote (and range) thoroughly during sound check. I needn't have worried. Show Cues performed perfectly every single time! They were so impressed I got 4 more after dinner gigs from it! I love this App! Well done again for the latest update Carl!

I just bought show cues and just read throught the manual and have a question about the remote.

In the instructions, it mentions that it will take a 20 second fade if I were to use the remote control fade. Does this mean that my audience will still be hearing 20 seconds of music after I press the fade button on the remote?

Can anyone confirm this, or do I have it wrong?
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Dec 14, 2012 06:21PM)
Perry, thanks for your support. The 20 seconds refers to the time it takes to fade-out and then be ready to play the next track. The audience will hear nothing after the fade-out until you press the play button after the reset. The update I am working on now will fade-out with an INSTANT reset!

I would like to say I am very happy with the app and love it, thanks for all the hard work that you have put into it. Have already used it several times with no problems.

Just got the remote and playing around with it, works good, the fade is not a big problem but I would go ahead as you have planned and update to a software fadeout and that I beleive will make everybody happy.

One little thing about the remote, do not expect that you will hear any audio coming out of the speakers in the IPad even if you do not have the output cord plugged in as the dock automatically sets the output to the headphone output. Was confusing for a few minutes until I realized what was going on.

Duh on my part, especially after I saw this quote form Carl on another thread:

"When you plug in the dock you will NOT hear sounds until you plug into a sound system or headset, that is the way the remote and dock work."
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Dec 19, 2012 10:47AM)
Thanks James! Yes the software fade is perfect and very exciting, I know everyone will love it! That part is working great, I am not just adding back in all the frills as I did a complete rewrite of the App. It will look the same but work like butter :)

Carl

PS Please remember to comment and rate 5 stars on the App Store, it really helps us, Mahalo!

Carl,

I did a demo of the app at our Ring 35 meeting this month and others were definitely interested. It was very well received.

Did not have the remote then, but I will be using it at our annual banquet next month for the Ring.

Did I understand that you were rewriting the app? Any particular reason for you to do so or is it just a function of the software fade?
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Dec 20, 2012 08:47AM)
Thanks James!
I rewrote it because another developer came up with an open source class file that will now allow me to create a perfect software fade. I had been wanting this for a long time and now it is possible. Also a new SDK came out from Apple that allow other improvements in the functionality of the App. It will look the same but run even better!

Thanks again for doing the demo to your Ring 35!

it would work properly ,silly me!!!!!!!!!
FADE BUTTON WILL BE USED FOR SOMETHING ELSE.

Hi.
I'm excited with the Show Cues app and remote and have heard lots of praise here in the Café.
I have just started experimenting with this and have noticed that if music is playing in landscape mode and I switch to settings (portrait) mode then back again that the volume changes (a little lower), has anyone else found this?
Also I have been performing at shopping centre's recently and as a custom I play some pre-show music which varies depending on the mood I'm in etc.. When it comes to show time I cannot just skip through the playlist to the show music quickly enough.
I believe Show Cues has a good potential and I'm hopeful for everything to run smoothly.

NOW BACK to SHOW CUES
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Jan 19, 2013 07:12PM)
Adrian,

Thanks! The pre-show music you can handle a couple ways. Load a pre-show playlist and play it until ready for the show and then go to the table view, clear the playlist and press select to load your show playlist. That can be done is just a few seconds. Or you could combine the playlist. I usually know that I will play music for 30 minutes prior to the show and simply load 30 min of pre-show music before my show tracks. This way I can go right from pre-show to show without missing a beat :)

I hope that helps. Show Cues 2.0 is in beta testing now. It was completely rewritten from the inside out and has better volume control, returning back to whatever volume you set after fade and pause. It also saves and automatically loads your last used playlist. It has a perfect software fade-out with instant reset. The play view locks in landscape mode so it cannot jump back to portrait menu mode during your show. It can run in the background while you multitask. You can load cue sheets right from your songs iTunes comment box so you never have to enter them again, even if you reset or reinstall. It will still look basically the same but has several nice subtle interface improvements as well.

We are very excited about Show Cues 2.0!

Thanks again,
Carl

thanks.

I will say just with playing around with this app today and showing it to my assistant. we really love it. cant wait to run it tomorrow!!
Message: Posted by: Sam Sandler (Feb 25, 2013 01:01PM)
Well I promised a review when I got back from my shows!

I left 5am this morning and performed 2 school assemblies. just got home.
upon finishing setting up and ready for the show I quickly showed my assistant the new app and selected the songs we would use for the show.

I showed her how to play, fade, etc.

I got to tell you that with only a minute or two of showing her how it works she was good to go.
she ran the music and it worked flawlessly!! the fade and jump to next song is just awesome!!

I can not wait to perform my show this week by myself so I can run the music on my own. yes it is that cool. it will let me do so many things that will help my show run even better.

I am ordering the remote today as well.

I give this 10 stars out of 10! well thought out and easy to use.

I will mention that creating playlist on itunes did not seem to work however I contacted Carl via email and with in an hour he replied~! he mentioned that I could use the music player on my iphone to create the playlist. I looked and it was supper easy to create the playlists I wanted!!

the only thing I can possibly say and that could be because I am unaware of how to do it. but when I created playlist not the saved ones but at a show I might want to create a special order of music. once chosen it seems you can not rearrange them you have to clear and start over. by selecting them in order you want to play. which I did not know nor did I read that any where. I discovered that on my own.

however it is such a minor detail that I would not even call it a problem.

buy it and enjoy it.

this app rocks and is truly one that I will look forward to using every show.

by the way I did two 40 minute shows with a 20 minute reset inbetween and it only used about 20% of my battery. I thought that was pretty darn good.

sam
Message: Posted by: mtmagic (Feb 25, 2013 01:40PM)
Sam,

Once you get your playlist loaded go to edit, on the left side of the song title press and hold the gray lines and you will be able to move the song to whatever position you want.

Dan
Message: Posted by: Sam Sandler (Feb 25, 2013 02:01PM)
Now see that is why I did not say it was a negative. I thought it was possible. I just tried and it worked.

I am so loving this app. I have several shows this weekend including one where I will be part of a revue show and will use it with the Cue sheet for the guy running the music. cant wait.

thanks so much for telling me how to get that done!!

sam
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Feb 25, 2013 04:20PM)
Thanks for the great review Sam. Dan thanks for helping Sam :)
Sam you can also have your iPhone or iPad plugged in for power during your shows. You can plug the power chord in right thru the remote dock.

Version 2.1 is coming with a few more cool updates in a couple weeks!

Enjoy,
Carl

Hi Carl,

I sent a 5-star rating & review of Show Cues 2.0, but it doesn't show up. Anything that I'm missing?

Thanks for making a great tool even better!

Warm regards,

Carl-- yes I know I can plug in. I was curious as to what kind of power it would draw. I purposely left it unplugged to see what it would do.

thought some people would be interested in that. there are times that you might not have your plug with you and it would be good to have a general idea of what kind of power is going to be used.

I thought that it was pretty fair for what we used it for. 2 40 minute shows and a 20 minute reset and it was on pretty much the whole time and played all the songs used and only took 20% of my battery -- not bad I say.

I have been searching for a good music management system for my shows and I just stumbled on to this thread. Don't have an iDevice at the moment (Yes, I'm one of the dinosaurs) but planning to get one soon so I can use this app.

All this while I have been just putting my music tracks on a CD and then briefing the sound guy at the show venue for a few minutes before my shows. Not surprisingly, it has always been a disaster with the wrong tracks being played, or the right tracks but not started at the right time.

Looking forward to using this soon.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Feb 26, 2013 09:41AM)
Thanks Alextsui, The cool thing about Show Cues is you can control the music yourself or use the cue sheet feature with a sound-tech. I find it only takes a minute to teach them how to use it. During the show, the cues sheets pop up and tell them exactly when to play and fade your tracks. The sound-tech's love using the technology and never miss a cue. When a tech is not available it is very easy to control your own music as well.

We actually have a lot of customers who have purchased an iPad (2nd generation or higher) or iPod Touch (4th generation or higher) just to run Show Cues. Just remember if buying an older device it needs to be able to run at least iOS 6.0.

All the best,
Carl

Hi Carl, I love the new version. The fade is great. I'm still just using it on my smaller shows because I'm still having some issues on the remote. I have a feature request. I'm not sure how many people will use it, so I thought I would put it out there. It would be nice if you could also use it to play video. I'm not sure how difficult it would be, but I thought I would mention it and see if anyone else would be interested.

Aloha Socalmagic, I have had others ask about video and I intend to look into and see if it is possible, thanks!

Well I bought the show cues 2 weeks ago.
long story short I had been using CDs for the past 10 years and they have always served me well.
however recently my cd player broke at a show and had to borrow one from the school.

this got me to thinking I need to upgrade. I got show cues and the next day had to school shows. I showed my assistant how to use it (maybe spent 90 seconds) the first show ran great. I immeadiately asked her how easy was it to use. she looked at me like a was crazy and just said it was super simple.

then at my next show my daughter ran the sound for me.

finally I got to use it and got to tell you this is the best thing to come along for magicians in a long long long time.

I also bought the remote. and they were super fast to get it to me as I needed it for a upcoming show where I had not sound guy to run things and the sound board was too far away for me to plug in and use the app itself it needed the remote.

this thing is so super cool. the fades the volume adjustments. being able to set cue words and delays.

holy smokes is this the best thing out there for music.

I have not found a bad thing with this yet.
looking forward to what ever updates you have.
and thinking of buying an ipad so that I can use it on that this way when it is farther from me I can still see the tracks.

I wish there was a way to have it remote to another phone or ipad so that if the sound board is far away I can connect my phone but still have some thing with me on stage to see what is going on.

Sam, there's another very simple way to get around that. Whenever I do a show where there is sound provided, I ask for an XLR mic connection on stage to connect my iPod Touch to. I use a direct box that allows me to connect the RCA cable from the iPod to an XLR cable. I don't think the one I own is available still but this one will do the trick: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=530095&Q=&is=REG&A=details This way, I have the iPod Touch on my performance table so I can see it easily. I've never had a problem doing it that way and, if they have a big sound setup, they're sure to have a snake going to the stage so you can use one of the mic lines.

Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

Michael
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Mar 5, 2013 12:57PM)
Sam, Michael is correct, that works great and I have used a direct box myself. I did switch from direct box to an idea by Wayne Rogers on our FB page, and use a wireless belt pack (like you would use for a headset mic or musical instrument). I have the belt pack plugged into my iPod Touch in my prop bag on stage. It is wirelessly connected to a receiver attached to the sound system. So with no visible wires I can have the iPod on stage with me.

Thanks,
Carl

Curious about something. Now that the software fade works perfectly there does not seem to be any reason for the hardware fade button on the remote. In fact if you have your settings for a software fade and you accidently press the hardware fade button it seems to befuddle the system. So my question is qhether or not the remotes now being shipped still come with the hardware fade button or has that been disables?

By the way Conjuring Cabinet has some new stuff being offered. There is a belt clip for the orginal remote that I really like and a really tiny rectangular remote. This new remote is small but the buttons seem further apart which makes it less likely to press the wrong button by mistake.

Downloaded Show Cues to my iPad mini last night. I have my track list and cues set up. This app is great! It'll get it's first test tomorrow night!
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Mar 15, 2013 08:22PM)
Aloha Mike, You are correct in that the software fade is now perfect and you should not use the old center button. We have plans to make that center button become a user programmable button. This will allow the users several options to use that button for other functions. We are very excited about that.

Everyone should check out conjuringcabinet.com to see the new accessories available.

M Sini, Mahalo and enjoy!

We used my iPad Mini and Show Cues to run sound at my theatre show on Saturday night. I was working with a sound guy that I'd hired in the past a few times. When I handed him my iPad, he just kind a gave me a look like "really?" My guy didn't miss a single cue and at the end of the show I asked him how he liked using the app. He said "It works great. Made my job a lot easier."

$70 well spent!

I plan to use it in 2 upcoming shows this weekend. Due to them being smaller venues, I'll have the iPad set on my table and be running the sound myself.

Very Cool M Sini, I get the same results on the cruise ships, the sound tech's love it. Some of the tech's have also purchased Show Cues to run all the shows :)

New App store reviews from US and Germany:

I purchased the original version for iPad when it first came out and thought that it was great then. The upgrades continue to enhance this excellent app for stage performers.

I have used several different devices for controlling my tracks for my show, some costing more than $1,000 with all accessories. Several times they failed me on stage, which is not okay when you're a professional.

Show Cues works well with the remote, but is also a very useful tool even if you have a sound tech. The custom cues for each track are the perfect way to insure that your sound tech knows when to start, stop or fade your music. The customizable fades rates and volume levels for each track make this practically idiot-proof!

Thanks for a practical and easy to use app that keeps getting better. The customer service is second to none. Highly recommended!

*******************

Wow, finally , solid software I can count on for headliner entertainment, no room for errors in professional stage hypnosis. Well done, thanks for implementing my upgrade suggestions!
Jeff west comedy hypnosis show

*******************

The rework for this new version 2.0 is awsome and makes this the best system I've used to date. It is so well worth every penny and puts a lot of the other systems out there that cost so much more to shame. I definitely recommend for the professional.

*******************

As an artist, I use this tool in almost every show. Incredibly practical and very easy to use. Bugs with new version no longer exists. A very good alternative to physical solutions for sound control. A tap on the keyboard and the sound starts and stops at the right volume. Not cheap, but the price is more than worth it. Not a toy and therefore no toy award. top!

I spoke to the people at Buy iJet last month and asked when the new docks with the Lightning Connector would be coming out and was told the don't expect to have them anytime soon. The representative I talked to said they would eventually have them but he had no timetable for it.

My remote finally arrived yesterday. I eagerly plugged in all the components. I'm happy to report that everything works perfectly.

I've been a long time user of the MiniTech and more recently the Mp3 Tech. While I'm still very satisfied with the Mp3 and will continue to use it in bigger shows, I was looking for something more compact and wireless for smaller venues such as birthday parties. I love using music in my shows and digging around and pulling out furniture to find an outlet really annoyed me. With this new set and the inclusion of a battery powered speaker built into my case, it's going to be very easy to open the case and start the show.

The remote has the same feel as the Mp3 Tech's with the noticeable difference that the buttons have a definite click feel when pushed on the Show Cues remote. When I use the Mp3 Tech remote I almost have to push on the button for a second or so to activate the cue. This remote is almost instantaneous. Now if I could trigger it with a PK ring like the Mp3 Tech remote that would be great. I ran around the house and had absolutely problems with the transmitting distance.....longest from the receiver about fifty feet. It might be nice to have the belt holder, although I like it kept in my front pocket and push the buttons through the material. This site might be a cheaper place to obtain a remote now that the fade issue has been resolved, and it includes the holder. http://www.buyijet.com/remotes/inav-boss-v2-black-remote-ijet-1.html .The remote did come with a very nice cable and adapter to connect to the sound system. Can't wait to get it into a show.......

"In the past I have used so many different music systems to provide the backing for my shows. This might sound big time but it isn't meant to be but SO many cues have been missed in the past by technicians in all kinds of venues. Recently I purchased "SHOW CUES"... note I am NOT getting paid to say this! I found it unbelievably simple to create a list of the music and sounds that I needed and create the cues for the techie guys. Last week I was on a ship. The sound engineer had never seen "SHOW CUES" before but the show was flawless. Every cue was spot on. I know this system was created for use by magicians but other performers on the ship, singers and multi instrumentalists, were all asking where to get it.
I highly and freely recommend "SHOW CUES" and I have now started to play with the iJet controller... so far.... impressed!"

Ok since I JUST bought the remote two weeks ago......that blows! Having to buy ANOTHER one is not what I would call cost effective! Perhaps in the futur you could let potential buyers kno, at the time of ordering, that an update model will SOON be available so that they might choose to wait for the newer model

John, IMHO you should have two remotes anyway, I do. So it is not a big issue. Even if I would use the new one I still would have a second one as stand by and ready to be used in a different location, e. g. on my table. Jan

No you're right, nobody said so near. What they (you) said was "The magnetic switch is being currently being developed right now. We hope to have it available very soon. So I'll standby my comment that it would have been NICE if we(I) could have been notified that a newer remote would be available "very soon". I might have waited. That's all.

Anyone have issues with the remote? I use it on a belt clip under my jacket and it seams to work at home while practicing in my magic room. but if I practice in my living room I have to take it out from under my jacket and stand right next to the reciever and point it right at it to get it to move to the next track. Did 5 shows this weekend at a school carnival and had to do the same thing. The App seams to work great now but the remote now makes it unreliable. I even purchased a second remote as a back up and they both do it. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Show Cues 2.3 is almost ready.

We would like to add another feature by making the center button, on the "Show Cues" remote control, a user programmable button.
For example:
1) use it as a fade button.
2) set it to play a user selected track whenever pressed anytime during a show.

Would love to hear if you have any ideas or requests?
Thanks!
Message: Posted by: illusions & reality (Apr 8, 2013 07:38PM)
Using it to play a selected track is a great idea, especially if it's sound effects.

Lou
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Apr 8, 2013 11:13PM)
Sound effect was what I had in mind but thinking it could be anything. Imagine if you could have for example a rim shot available anytime you wanted during your show.

We would like to maybe have a few options and let the user select how to use the button. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I just bought the app and remote, waiting for the remote. I thought I read early on in this form that if I turn down the volume of a track via screen or remote that the next track would go back to the set volume. I might ha e misread but can someone clear this up?

Is there a way if I turn down volume mid song and once it fades out to the next track that that track volume would be back to the set or master volume?

Kyle
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Apr 9, 2013 09:25AM)
Thanks Kyle,
If you turn down the song volume, that becomes the new volume. If you want to go back to another volume you can either have the next track individual volume set back up where you want it and it will become the new master volume or simply raise the volume manually and it will become the new master volume. This allows you to change master volume at anytime during your show. Also if you have one track you like to player at a lower volume, just set the volume inside the individual track setting.
Thanks again,
Carl
Message: Posted by: KyleMarlett (Apr 9, 2013 02:43PM)
If there is any way in a update to allow to turn a volume down and when you fade to the next song it would be at a set volume , that would be awesome.
You can do that with a Mp3tech

I really like the app but that's my only complaint, if I want a song to be full volume to find a spectator from thee audience and then lower it to a background volume and then if I hit the next track as climax music, it would still be at background volume and not a high climax volume.

Just a suggestion
Message: Posted by: garydunn (Apr 9, 2013 07:14PM)
Kyle,

Just set your individual track volume of your climax music track at 100%. Then after any fade, this setting will override and the volume will be back at full!

Gary
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Apr 10, 2013 12:08AM)
Aloha Kyle,
Gary is correct. You can already do what you are looking for with Show Cues by using the individual track volume settings.
Thanks,

Beyond Reality Magic, I've had the same problem with the remote. It works great at home, but when I'm on stage it is unreliable and often becomes completely unresponsive. I've got two remotes and it happens with both of them and I have already had it replaced once. I now will only use it on very small shows where music isn't critical. It's too bad because the app is incredible, but I have to use the remote for it to be useful for me.
Message: Posted by: shawn popp (Apr 10, 2013 02:44PM)
SocalMagic and Beyond Reality Magic --
I'm sorry to hear about your problems with the remote. This is not normal and is something I have not personally encountered. Unfortunately each performer has different performing conditions so it make troubleshooting difficult. The remote should operate just as well in a banquet room or auditorium as it does at home in your living room. However, keep in mind that any kind of RF interference can cause issues with reception. The remote is unlike a microphone in the fact that it only has one frequency. Nevertheless, it should operate fine even at 100ft. There may certainly be an issue not only with the remote, but possibly with the receiver. I am happy to provide replacement remotes for anyone having issues.

That being said, I always recommend keeping the distance between you and the device as short as possible. Try to get the sound board near the stage rather than the back of the room. I have found, the further away, the more firmly you need to press the buttons. Also be sure to test the remote with itunes on your device as well.

BTW, what devices are you using the remote on? I've found the older iPods to not be as responsive as the newer models. The same is true for the phones. My iphone 4S works better than my ipod 4Gen. Neither work as well as my iPad 3.

Again, feel free to return the remote for a replacement. As a performer myself, I understand the need for a device that works right every time. IF your remote(s) don't work, please send them back so we can get to the bottom of the situation.

Thanks for your support
shawn

it had been such a pain trying to create the list of music using the ADD feature. it never worked from day one when I bought it.
I thought it was me. turns out it was a bug but you fixed it!! thanks

as for the remote I use my iphone 5 and don't have to remove the case but I do separate it at the point of insertion so that it fits in properly.
of course with the 5 you also need to use an adapter but no problems so far.

Quick question,

When I hit the volume down button on the remote, the volume jumps more than half way down. When I hit the up volume is dose it slowly, like its suppose to.
It only happens the first time I hit the down volume per track, if I hit again, it go's at a slow speed.

Kyle
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Apr 13, 2013 06:05PM)
Kyle,

The volume can be controlled from the device or the remote. When going from the device controlling the volume to the remote controlling the volume, the first volume press will always jump to the last volume position the remote used. You will find this to be true on Apple's own music player.

If you use the remote for volume, after the first volume press it will realize that it is in control and will function normally (unless you go back to manually changing the volume or using the individual track setting to adjust the volume). If you do so, the next remote volume touch will jump to the last known remote volume level and adjust from there. I would suggest doing this while the device is paused so the audience does not hear the jump.

I tried the remote with my Ipad 2 for Friday s school show. It worked great but halfway thru it stopped working so great. I had to take it off my belt clip and point right at it and click sometimes more then 3 times to advance.

Used it at birthday party on my ipod touch 5th gen yesterday and it still didn't work.

So Shuan I think I would like return this one and try another one. I want this to work as the app works so great now. Infact at my show friday I had to make a last minute change and I've never had to do that before. It was easy to do and worked perfectly.

Now if I can just get the remote to be reliable. Thanks everyone for your help with this.

OK I finally received my remote today. I plugged it into the patch to my iphone 5 and nothing. I am not sure if it is the converter plug or the iNAV remote. Can anybody tell me if there is any indication that the iNAV pairs with the ipnone or any indication it is connected? I am trying to decide if it is th iNAV or the converter plug. I don't know someone with an ipad or Iphone 4 for me to test it that way. I may have to do this if I can't figure it out.

Ron, I do know that the only cables that appear to work with the iPhone 5 connector are the ones from Apple. I have been told the cheap 3rd party cable adapters do not work.

Hi Carl"

I may have to try that. I am not actually using cables but more of a male female plug. I am hoping it is that rather than the iNAV.

Show Cues price increase alert!

Due to the amount of time and effort spent developing Show Cues, the price will increase next Friday to 89.99. Still a bargain compared to alternative music devices and for what you get with Show Cues.

If you know anyone on the fence about buying Show Cues, please let them know about the price increase coming up. They can read reviews on our website http://mojosoftwareonline.com/showcues.htm or on the App store and save $20 by purchasing now!
Thank you!

He rang me a couple of nights after the festival, for a couple of pointers with setting up - looks like he has it totally sussed now!

You just keep amazing me! An excellent product, that keeps getting better! Obviously you are hooked on making Show Cues better and better. Thanks for making these upgrades available so quickly and free. Instead of feeling "ripped off" because I just missed buying the better product, you keep making the product that I did buy even better.

Thanks for being one of the good guys!

Hey guys, I just learned about this product and I am very excited to purchase it before the price increase this friday.

just want to point out one thing for anyone considering using the ipod touch gen3. the app site says it support ipod touch gen 3. based on that I went out today and bought a used one off of craigslist. come to find out after I get it home and went to install iOS 6 on the unit, that iOS 6 is NOT supported on the gen 3. glad I only spent $50 on it. too bad craigslist doesn't have a return policy. anyway I did email carl to let him know and he did mention that he was not aware of this and he would remove the ipod gen 3 from the support list. so the lesson is to NOT go wasting any money on a gen 3 like I did.

You might want to check out a refurbished 4th Gen. iPod Touch from Apple. Their refurbished iPods (and iPads) have a new case, new battery, and the same warranty as a brand new one at a great price:

Message: Posted by: ggarcia (Apr 21, 2013 10:31PM)
Thanks I will do that. just a little miffed. I wasted 50 bucks because the device support listing was not correct. I could have used the 50 bucks to apply to the actual app or on another device that is supported. oh well. I'll get over it.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Apr 23, 2013 11:36AM)
Hey GGarcia, Just so you know Apple listed those requirements. It may have been because originally the App did work with the older devices and they never changed the requirement list. I am sorry about that, However in MY App copy it does clear state iOS 6 or higher. I will see if I can get Apple to change the support listing with the next update, thanks for letting me know.

Michael's suggestion is great, a refurbished 4th gen iPod Touch will be great or check eBay, I did buy one there for just over $100.

All the best,
Carl

Jon 2.3 iPhone version was submitted to Apple today although the center button feature will not be working until the new remotes are ready with the center button programable. It will not work on the older remotes as they must be specially prepared for this feature. However there are 16 more new and improved features coming in version 2.3 to be excited about in the meantime.

I've had the ShowCues since near the beginning. I can tell you that at first I was a little skeptical and disappointed. But Shawn has done an amazing job with customer service, and he and Carl have constantly improved this device and software.

I have owned wireless wizardry technology, as well as the iCues2. I have been using related technology for a couple of decades.

It's easy for me to totally recommend the SHOWCUES at this point. Yes it took a while. Yes they took a great idea and slowly improved it until it rocks. And yes… There is a learning curve. These things are never quite as easy as they look.

But now I trust it. I trust myself using it. And I'm excited because they are still improving both the hardware and the software. I'm absolutely convinced that I've put my money in the right place. If you have any doubts… Feel free to contact me. I be happy to answer your questions; but I can tell you what I will tell you on the phone now. Just buy it. It's cheap. It works. Packs tiny. I love it.

Brad
http://www.bradmontgomery.com

PS. For what it is worth, the best way to use this device is by buying a secondary iPod or iPad. At first I used it with my phone, but I will never do that again. I bought a used iPod I dedicate to this device and program. It's a total bargain and brings peace of mind.

Hi Carl,

I don't know of any commercial creator, of any product, who continually works so hard to make an already excellent product even better! As one who purchased this app when it first came out, I am constantly surprised that you continue to improve Show Cues.

I would recommend Show Cues to anyone who needs a great app to professionally control their music from an iPad or iPhone. It's been a great tool for me.

Thanks for continually adding value for your customers. I'm regularly impressed by the way you do business! Too rare, but deeply appreciated!

Here is another Show Cues review that came in today:

I have used, developed and manufactured remote controls for music players for two decades. However, we live in a difference world today, where Apps are the most elegant solution to tomorrow’s issues. I saw the day coming when an App would replace all my hard work.

Then I came across the Show Cues App. Talk about paradigm shift… This App makes all other music controller systems feel like a Rube Goldberg machine!

I bought this App, and have never turned back. And that’s saying something, considering how much work I put in to perfect this capability. In 2008, a perfect storm of catastrophic events coalesced around my business, but the writing was already on the wall with the ushering in of the potential of Apps to take over some day.

Today is that day.

Now I have the best App and music controller in the world, all in one. Finally!

Don’t look back, push forward, and get this App while it is still priced below a meager $200.

Yours truly,

Kelly Duro

Using music elevates both your performance and your show. What holds many people back is the perceived difficulty in using music while they perform. ShowCues makes it so easy to manage and control your music even while performing. I use this fantastic app in every show I do, and I believe that once you give it a try, you will use it as much as I do. This app gets my highest rating!

Two more excellent 5 star Show Cues reviews on iTunes today:

Pretty easy to use...easier to pay for - So far so good. I have never owned an iPhone before today but got one specifically for this app. Pretty excited to put it to use!

Question - I have an IJet Remote and an ipad. If I purchase ShowCues from the app store and use my ijet remote, what functionality will I not have? How important is it that I use the custom remote?

Also, is there more than one remote style? The ijet remote that I have is very small, but I see there are some other style ijet remotes that have a different layout with the buttons that I like better. They seem to be a little larger. Do y'all sell these as well?
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Aug 12, 2013 03:11PM)
Yes any remote will work. Our custom made remote has an extra programmable button which we continue to add features to as we update. There is also work being done to extend the range on the Show Cues remotes in the near future as well as a magnetic or ankle switch coming soon! Thanks for asking.

Best app on my iPad
by ScottWellsMagic - Show Cues for iPad - Version 2.6
I have paid a lot more for other show music programs and devices and I have tried the less expensive apps, too. None compare with the functionality, ease and convenience of Show Cues. Carl and Shawn have created an indispensable program that allows me to easily prep my show music, remix and control on the fly for any program I perform, from a small living room setting to a cruise ship stage. I highly recommend it whether you are a full time pro or the occasional performer. It gives your act an added boost that separates you from the common conjuror.

Once I played around with this and got familiar....I use it all the time. Your show can be as professionally presented as the best of the best. Highly recommended if you use any music in your performance. Only problem I have is some of my custom made music is a little difficult to get in library....but that,s just me, I,m sure. Anyone technically challenged like myself will love this.

...will work smoothly in conjunction with the Show Cue 2.7 software?

Or, am I best advised to purchase the remote that is advertised as compatible for Show Cue at: http://www.conjuringcabinet.com/showcues-remote?search=remote

I am now the proud owner of the Show Cue 2.7 software APP. Thanks Carl! :)

I will likely get the remote sold via http://www.conjuringcabinet.com as I understand, from Carl, that although my old iJet will likely work with the Show Cue 2.7 software, the remote form conjuring cabinet has a center button that will eventually allow the performer to have access to "expanded" options. :)

The latest update has some terrific new features. I epsecially like being able to rename the tracks within the app, great way of keeping track of the show order. I now own show cues - very cool app. Very happy with the purchase. I have a few questions...

1- Any plan to make the menu pages work with the rotating screen? I don't like to have the music player mode horizontal and then when I go to menu I have to rotate the device.

2- if you want to play a track twice, is there a way to make it automatically loop? Or do I have to edit the song to lengthen it in one track.

3 - If I want to play a song at the beginning of the show and the same track toward the end of the show, how do I do this since I can't load the same song twice? Why is this the case with this app. I'm sure there is a good reason, but it is unclear to me.

4 - Lastly, if I purchase an iPad mini, will the app work well with this size device?

These are all my questions for now. Thanks.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Oct 27, 2013 01:35AM)
Thanks Tony!
1 - no plans on the menu page as it would not look very good in landscape and the play screen does not show enough in portrait. Also the media picker supplied by apple only comes up in portrait. So we found it best for all screens to be portrait except the play screen for the best look and optimal screen optimization.

2 - We are considering a loop feature for the individual track settings on a future update, thanks.

3 - Show Cues saves the tracks settings by the song titles and duplicate song titles would create havoc with the database.

4 - Show Cues looks great on an iPad mini!

Thanks again,
Carl

1- this is disappointing. I mean it works fine for me, but this is the most expensive app I (or my circle of friends) have ever purchased. And the rotation feature is becoming an expected feature.

2- good. I'm glad. I can do an editing workaround for now.

3- again, I can do an editing work around.

4- good to know.

Thanks...

Show Cues App:
I have been using the Show Cues App for the past year. First let me say the app is amazing. It has great bells and whistles. The Ijet remote sucks and has made it unusable for me and a few others that I know of but for most it sound like it works.

I have had several email conversations with Shawn and even exchanged the remote once and bought a second one and just couldn't get it to work correctly.

I spent 3hrs testing everything I could think of from testing it not connected to anything to testing it with a hard hook up to my PA to Blue tooth hook up using both IPod and Ipad2.

It turned out when I hard plugged it into my PA with either IPod or Ipad2 the remote stopped responding unless the remote was less than 1 foot away. When I used it with blue tooth to my Jam Box it worked from 75 to 100 feet away.

I bought a blue tooth adapter from Best Buy which made it work for the most part. Sometime I would have to push the button 2 or 3 times and some time it would move to the next track and immediately fade out. I also had to add 3 seconds of dead sound to every track do to the delay it presented. And if the blue tooth adapter was not right next to the IPod the music would cut in and out.

Finally I got fed up with the unreliability of fumbling with my music and looking like an idiot because of it. As a professional I want a reliable system. I have more important things to worry about during my show then stressing about my music.

Cue Commander:
I have had Cue Commander for 24 hours and have run the same test I ran with Show Cues and have had no problems with reliability. It has started every time. I will give it some real world experience this weekend and if it sucks I'll tell you.

I hope the app will be getting some added features. As a senior software developer myself I can tell you the more bells and whistles the more chance for problems. Show Cues has more options than I ever used.

The only added features Cue Commander needs would be to edit my play list and adjust individual track volume (in the software not by remote) on the fly those came in handy a couple times with Show Cues.

My only complaint about Cue Commander is the font size of the tack name. I want to be able to see it from at 3 feet or so. I could care less about the track number. I have several different shows and use hundreds of tracks. I want to be able to read the screen not try and remember what track number goes with this trick. I use the screen as a set list and I want to be able to see what trick I'm doing and what trick is in cue. That was also nice about Show Cues. The rest is risk of problems.

You could have a basic mode for those who can’t read manuals and an extended mode for those who what added features. So I look forward to the update!!!

So for me add those 3 feature and this is the best system on the market.

Yes $600 is a lot of money for me and the app needs an couple updates but as a professional my customers expect the best and so do I. I expect reliability first and foremost! In my market it will take 4 birthday parties to pay for it but to me it will be well worth it if it elevates reliability stress.

Thought I would pass this on to Show Cues for iPad users. I recently upgraded to the iPad Air and got the Smart Cover with it. The holes is the smart cover that match up with the lightning pin and the headphone plugs are cut quite small and precise. The problem is that you can't plug in the lightning to 30 pin adapter needed to use the remote while the cover is on. The hole in the cover and the thickness of the cover make it impossible. Luckily they do sell a lightning to 30 pin adapter that has a short cable between the two (a few inches). That works really well.

Plugging in the audio cable also poses the same problem. I found an audio cable that works but I'm not sure it is the best.

So my recommendation would be to get a third party cover and make sure the holes are cut big enough for your adapter and audio cable.

Carl, couple of questions

1: everytime I sync my iPad the Show cues App closes as soon as I open it and as per the instructions above I have to re install it, is this a bug that will be fixed?

2: Up until today (when I added another playlist and had the above problem) I used to be able to add and remove playlists no problem, now it seems I have to select every track in the playlist like in the earlier versions. This is a pain for 3.5 hour Christmas Shows that use a few playlists some which have 20 or 30 tracks and means I had to just use iTunes, can this be fixed or am I doing something wrong?

Thx Joe

OK I now know what happened, when my ipad synced with iTunes it installed an un-updated version of Show Cues. Also because I re-installed the app I had to re create all the Playlists!

But it would be good if I didn't have to re-install after a sync?
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Dec 2, 2013 09:43AM)
Joe, I never have to re-install after a sync. The only reason you should have to re-install is a playlist was not saved or created correctly it seems to crash. The next update should fix that. I am also adding some other really cool new features!

Still no Android app?

With more android users than iphone users, there's got to be a good equivalent. Any suggestions for apps like Show Cues for android?
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Mar 3, 2014 05:20PM)
Show Cues Android is currently in beta testing.

My favorite of the new Show Cues iOS 2.8 features is "loop". If you have a short track, you can have it loop until you press fade.

Coming Soon!

Wow, Just joining the discussion and read almost everything.

Seems like it has been quite a journey.

I would like to use the Android version and I have a Toshiba THRIVE Tablet.

Would the Android version of this app work on that? And what kind of remotes would be?

I feel like I need something now - and was about to go out and buy an Ipad - just for this reason - but think I might hold out if I can use my thrive with the Android version.

I would be happy to be a beta tester.

At the moment I am a Kerry Pollack Media Star Fan - and it makes everything in my theater work - but looking for a more mobile version to do road gigs.

I will watch for a response Carl.

Sean-Paul,
The Android version is being tested but not finished yet. I expect it and the new remote should be ready in the next few months. Android is not as easy to program as Apple products because there are so many different hardware and software systems so at this point I don't know the answer for your device. Send me your email and I will forward you the next beta to test for me.

Thanks,

Does anyone have the download of the show cues remote manual available? I'm having trouble accessing it on the conjuring cabinet website and could use some help.

I just got the remote - I'm using it with my iPhone 5 and a 30 pin to 9 pin adapter. I cannot get the remote to work at all.

I recall reading something on here about the order in which you need to connect the remote, open the app, etc, but I can't seem to find that now.

i'd like to use this in a show tomorrow, so I'm hoping someone can help.

Tony S,
Shawn may have more info but I do know that if you do not use the Apple 30pin to 9pin adapter, it may not work. Apparently only the Actual Apple adapter works. If you are using the Apple official adapter than I don't know what you are doing wrong and you should call Shawn. Also the correct connection procedure is also in the Show Cues manual.

You can contact us directly or thru the Show Cues Facebook page where others may also be able to help you.

Let me know how you make out.

Thank you,
Carl

I believe that apple makes two lightning adapters, and only one is compatible with audio. You have to use the audio compatible adapter. In addition, my remote only works when the remote dock is plugged into the lightning adapter backwards.

I'm having some problems with the remote for show cues. I followed the directions on how to set everything up. I was just rehearsing my show and in the middle of the music playing the sound just cut out. This has happened twice in the last 2 days. The first time it happened I had to unplug the remote and advance to the next track, and then work the music manually from the screen on the phone in order to get sound. The second time it happened I was not able to get the sound to work again without rebooting the phone.

I am using an iPhone 5 with the current version of IOS. The remote receiver is plugged into an Apple adapter - NOT an after market adapter.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so can you tell me what you did to resolve it?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Tony, sorry to hear of your troubles with the remote. Try contacting Shawn Popp at conjuringcabinet.com. He sells the Show Cues remote and is more knowledgeable than myself about them. We do have a new remote in the works as well by a very highly respected electronics team (NDA prevents more info at this time). I don't use a remote myself. It has always been easy to use the cue sheet feature and teach someone how to run Show Cues in less than a minute. However a when I did need to have a remote I instead went with an idea by Wayne Rogers on our Facebook page, to use a wireless belt pack connected to my iPhone sitting on my table or in my case on stage. This way I simply controlled the music from the iPhone itself by touching the screen. I also used the delay feature to have the sound play sometime after I pressed the button as I picked up or replaced props. Just another idea that may work for you as well. Again speak with Sean to make sure everything is being connected properly or if you have a bad remote. Again we have something special in the works. Thanks for your support! Carl

Thanks for asking about Show Cues. We believe Show Cues to be by far the best app available for running your show sounds. We stand by our app and the testimonials on our website show that many of the top names in magic feel the same way. Customers have told us they would have paid a lot more for Show Cues!

When the new remote comes out, the Show Cues price will probably go up as the best hardware company combined with the best software is going to make Show Cues even more popular and more valuable.

All the best,
Carl

Tony, did you get an answer to this?

I've had a similar problem recently. The app was working fine until half way during the show it stopped playing and when manually pressing the ipad for the next track, it did nothing.
I had to abandon the music which was a real p*sser!

I've also been playing around with the ankle remote feature but quickly found out during a show that if you keep the magnet in contact with the remote for too long, it would turn off the (sleep) the ipad altogether!

The latter problem can be prevented I hope, but the first problem is disconcerting.

The current remote is still the custom iJet sold on conjuringcabinet.com. As far as the new remote, I am not the manufacturer and all I can say he they are working on it but had to wait until their recently released new product was out. When I know more it will be posted on our Facebook page first. It's a wait but if you knew who was making the remote, you would know it will be worth the wait :)

Hi Carl,

As you know, I love Show Cues. Best app out there in my opinion.

As excited as I am about your app, the iJet remote has been a big disappointment. I bought 2, but couldn't rely on either - even when as close as 20 feet. Those 2 remotes were money down the drain.

I look forward to the new remotes coming out, but will wait to hear reviews before jumping ahead to purchase.

I know that you don't sell the remotes, but such a fantastic app should be paired with an equally great remote.

Thanks for offering your expertise to the magic community. Show Cues is one of the best bargains out there for any performer using music.

Guys, I agree the App is great, I use it quite often, but not always as the remotes (I got three...) are not too reliable. In Europe you can run also in specific problems as we use different RF in specific areas. I do not know the RF of iJet but they are not for sale over here due to the used RF which might be reserved for other purposes which means they are not allowed and therefore sometimes not functioning. Same happens to radio mics. I use Sennheiser plus DPA and I am prepared to move in 3 different areas of RF in order to have functional and officially allowed transmission.

A colleague in Frankfurt could just recently not find any free frequency using his older Sennheiser system trying various RF which are not reserved anymore for us. Transmission was dead. So the RF transmission can always create a lot of problems which are not caused by the App itself.

Therefore I use also an alternative system which is extremely reliable over here. Unfortunately it is windows based and due to the RF system very expensive. I am looking forward to the new remote system for show cues. Jan

I also had problems with the show cues remote discussed here. While it does not have all the features of the remote, I use my pebble watch for a remote. Don't hold your breath. Love the app. Use it all the time. Tired of the never ending promises. It's hard to endorse a product that never seems complete. Quite honestly without a remote this app is just another glorified audio player of which there are many cheaper versions. Still hopeful, but........

I wish I could tell you more but the remote will be worth the wait. In its early stages its range already blows away anything available by a mile. They are working on making it even better, it will be THE remote in a class by itself!
I understand everyone wants something amazing and they want it now but it doesn't work like that. These things take time to perfect so please be patient. Thanks!
In the meantime, John, myself and many others use Show Cues every show without a problem.
Message: Posted by: gmindmagic (Sep 6, 2014 05:25PM)
Carl I understand the remote being pushed back, but could you answer a few more questions to keep us that are waiting for the new remote interested.

I am not affiliated with Deceptively Simple and I am not endorsing their remote, I do not own one. However I saw it used recently by one of the top working pros in the country, in the type of venue I work, and it was flawless. (After talking to him he gave it his highest recommendation, he said it was simply plug and play and he did not have to worry).

What I am asking is what advantages will yours have? I know you said the range will blow every other away, but what else.

Will the iPhone or iPad have a cradle and have to run on A/C like the other?

Will it be a smaller remote than theirs, and will it have the hands free feature (magnetic or other)?

I know at this point you have a direction your remote is going, so what I am asking is what are the advantages to keep us hanging in there?

(Also not jumping the gun and spending 600.00 plus dollars on the DS remote system if yours is going to be a drastic improvement!!!!)

At this point I am frustrated waiting. I need a dependable remote system I can use with Apple products, simple integration. (I've been down the old MP3 transfer, Wireless Wizardry Systems, carry around a netbook.....and I know Craig still makes them and has taken over the product, and they are great but for me I am looking for compact, simple integration ).

Thank you in advance for answering any questions you feel you can.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Sep 6, 2014 06:54PM)
Thanks for asking about the new remote. Due to the NDA I cannot say much more. There will be a magnetic hands free feature and it will have the longest range. That's really all for now.

Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Sep 13, 2014 11:45AM)

Message: Posted by: Kevinr (Oct 28, 2014 04:20PM)
Bought Show Cues 2 years ago and granted its affordable and a simple program to use.

I have had nothing but trouble with trying to make this work for 2 YEARS. Works great on the laptop but that's really it.

Until they get a working remote sadly the program is worthless without it.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Oct 28, 2014 11:38PM)
Kevinr. Thanks for buying Show Cues. Sorry you have had trouble. I am sure we can help you with a Skype session. BTW Show Cues does not work on a laptop, not sure if you have us confused with something else?
Send me an email if you need help with Show Cues. Myself and many other customers use Show Cues every show, every week without a problem. Also its so easy to use without a remote by taking advantage of the onscreen cue sheet feature. I can teach anyone to run my music within 30 seconds and do it perfectly, its that easy. So if it is Show Cues you are using and need help, let me know. Remember Show Cues does NOT run on a laptop.

Thanks,
Carl

Sorry I meant my Ipod is all it works on. If you look at the countless upset people on here regarding this product I find it shocking you state it works so well. Have you not seen the list of broken promises regarding a working remote? I have several music programs I can look down and click for music and sound effects. I can't be doing that with my magic show. That's to obvious and distracting. Please look through all the pages of everyone excited for the program to work in a real world working situation only to spend hard earned money and be totally let down by the non working remote and feel they wasted money on the remote that is very very unreliable. I would understand if this was a problem only for a few months but this is years now. Any other industry and this product would be history. Only the magic industry puts up with smoke and mirrors and broken date for releases on products.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (Oct 29, 2014 03:12PM)
Kevinr, For every upset person as you call them, there are hundreds without any issues. I personally use Show Cues every show on my cruise ships and never have a problem. We do not manufacture the iJet remote but used them because the are the largest manufacture of iPhone remotes and was the best remote available. If you have a remote issue, Shawn will work with you. If you don't like the iJet, you can use any other remote that you prefer. However your comment of a non working remote is simply not true, as I said, most customers use it without issue.

Now as far as broken promises, I don't think we have done that. We are still working with another company on a new remote but again this timetable is out of our control. We are working with the best electronic manufacture in the business and feel confident they will produce the best remote on the market. We do not have any control over release dates for the remote. I can only tell you what they tell me. They have many other products and working on it as fast as they can. Their quality and reputation for service makes me believe it will be worth the wait.

Ive been using Show Cues (and the remote) for a couple years in my stage shows. It gets a LOT of use! I've never had an issue with my remote, and the software is a thing of beauty. Carl's improvements continually impress me.

My opinion is that TDS' posts are out of place, and the textbook definition of hijacking a thread.

My experience has been that if one cannot make sales without denigrating a competitor that helped forge the path one is on, then I would have no interest in the product or its representatives.

I've had no issues with the remotes either, and I perform 8-10 shows a week! I love the size of the iNav remote too you can palm it, keeping it concealed from view. The remote for Cue Command appears to be the size of a small mammal with a big ariel too. No thanks. I know who is manufacturing the new remotes for Carl, and all I can say is that it will be worth the wait. Please don't hi-jack this Show Cues thread to plug your own system TDS.

Again, what problems do you all have with the remote?
Message: Posted by: gothike (Nov 14, 2014 10:05PM)
The issue with the Ijet remotes is the small antenna in the tiny receiver and that they operate in the 433mhz band. 433hz has a lot of interference in certain areas. Or flat out illegal in certain countries.

Its like using a paper clip antenna in your HD TV and hoping to get a clear signal.

An easy solution to fix the problem is soldering in a 1/4 wave 433mhz antenna, the range will also increase.

Since everyone is going off topic may I suggest 'Soundmaster' by Cesaral for any size venue. http://www.cesaral.com/Cesaral%20Soundmaster.htm. No need for iPods, iPads, iPhones, computers, etc.
We have several remotes and our unit can do so much more than any app and all other competitors and customer support is premium.

Frank, Thanks for asking. The manufacturer had set MagicFest as the release goal and obviously he did not make it. They are a large player in the electronics field and very busy so I have no control.
In the meantime Shawn has found another remote company and is very happy with their product. Contact Shawn Popp at conjuringcabinet.com for the latest. This way we will be able to provide a variety of remote to choose from once the other one is ready.

Meanwhile, Cue Command with its long-range remote transmitter is available right now!

Deceptively Simple, Inc. designs and manufactures our own hardware so we have complete control over the functionality and availability. Cue Command is used by many professional entertainers and certainly worth considering if you need to control your music in a live-sound environment. In addition to the commonly availability features, Cue Command offers the ability to cross-fade from one track to another and an automated way to transition from pre-show to performance mode. I've been using mine for just under 4 years and have never a problem with the remote or the software. I've looked at competitors, but the extra hardware and wiring concerns me due to the increased opportunities for something to go wrong. And anyone that uses electronics and cabling/connectors knows what that means. I like staying with tried and true developers and products that work consistently.

Show Cues is quick and easy to set up, and reliable through hundreds of shows in all sorts of venues. That track record, and the track record of the developers is important to me since my livelihood depends on it.

I had trouble with my remote a couple of weeks ago and I contacted both Shawn and Carl and received great help. Come to find out I was not setting up in the right sequence. I was not installing the adapter into my ipad and then syncing the remote prior to opening show cues. It is clearly written this way in the manual but I was not following the sequence. Since then I have not had a problem. I recommend anyone having trouble with the remote make sure they install the 30pin portion before turning on the ipad or ipod. Then use the remote to turn up or down. Once the screen shows the volume screen you are set. Open show cues and have a great show.

So, I'm having a recurring problem with my sound that I need some help trouble shooting. I use an ijet remote and showcues. In my last two shows when it came to a particular piece of music the song stopped after a few seconds. I started it again and the same thing happened, so I proceeded with no music. Any guesses as to why a song wouldn't play correctly?
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (May 3, 2015 03:23PM)
Make sure the track is on the device and not in the iCloud. Also be sure there is no protection issue on the track. Try playing the track with the iPhone music player, if it will play on their player it will play on ours. My guess is a bad track or its not on the device. Only other possibility I can think of is to check and make sure you don't have any individual track settings on for that track that you don't want turned on.
Message: Posted by: Tony Thomas (May 3, 2015 03:31PM)
It might be the iCloud issue. What is issue with iCloud? When I'm sitting here in my living room showcues plays the song fine on the device, which is an iPad mini. In my shoes it has a grimlin. The other possibility you mentioned is protection on it. Tell me what you mean by that. It is an mp4.
Message: Posted by: Carl Andrews (May 3, 2015 07:18PM)
Here is a photo showing how to check if the song is on the device or in the cloud. If you are home and have wifi it will play but at the gig and no wifi, if in the cloud it will not play.

Tony Thomas, you do have your iPad Mini power settings set to always on when you do a performance. If is set to sleep or shut down in a certain amount of time, all running apps will shut off. Check your power settings app. Even if you have a screensaver will cause a program to shut down.

Message: Posted by: TDS (Sep 4, 2015 05:09PM)
Tony,

Assuming your recent "haters" comment was directed toward Deceptively Simple, we thought it made sense to clarify that none of us "hate" Carl Andrews or Show Cues. We simply pointed out Carl has overstated the possible availability of the new remote several times. Many Café members have pointed this out with some degree of frustration.

It's also worth mentioning that in his recent statement, Carl did not say the new remote would be available in two months but rather, "We will have an exciting new remote to tell you about in the next couple months." Based on that statement, it looks like you and others will have to continue waiting. Perhaps Carl can further clarify as to the actual availability.

Based on personal experience, building hardware to interface with Apple products (particularly those with the newer Lightning connector) is not trivial. The various "specs" one must follow are hundreds of pages in length and at times extremely technical. Once the product is built, the Apple approval process is equally challenging. What you're seeing is Carl working with a developer as they work their way through the process. Many run out of money prior to approval and simply go away.

When we set out to make Cue Command, we decided it was primarily a hardware solution. We invested in superior engineering talent and made sure we had the proper funding to see the device through completion and Apple's approval. The result is a platform 100% owned by Deceptively Simple, Inc. We control the hardware and the app and will never overstate the availability or capability of either. We will continue innovating and in fact, we're working on a new app update right now.

When you and others are tired of waiting for something that may or may not ever become available, we'd love to have you as a customer. You'd be in very good company.

Best always,

Team Deceptively Simple

Message: Posted by: Tony Thomas (Sep 5, 2015 05:31AM)
It seems to me that if you want to talk about how great your product is, then start your own thread and let your customers chime in. There are probably several threads like this on the Café that you could resurrect. It also seems to me that it should be the job of customers to criticize & complain about products, or broken promises, and not competitors. So, of course I don't think you hate Carl. But I think you hate business competition and want to gain advantage where you can. Sometimes, to display class in the midst of completion it is better to say nothing, if you can't say something nice. My mother taught me that. Just something to think about.

Guys,

http://audioaperemote.com/pricing

There are two type of antennas. Passive and Active. Passive is the Ijet with NO power draw, Active antennas draw power but the range is wayyy longer.

Just by looking at the picture of the remote they are using Linx Technologies parts. I use the same remotes on my PC and I get 1,000 ft. Now for $299 its a good price for a long range remote control system for a Apple device.

Or you can buy a Linx Tech evaluation kit at $125, PIC microcontroller, lighting connector/30pin connector and then program it.

Their remote control is below and I can verify that Linx Technologies produces long range, quality RF.

The Only unknown is customer service and if they deliver as promised.

Message: Posted by: gothike (Sep 7, 2015 07:45PM)
Guys,

My above post was to justify the pricing.

At $300 it's a fair price. If the product was a mass market item, the the price would decrease with volume manufacturing.

Or make one yourself:

http://davidfindlay.org/weblog/files/2009_09_07_ipod_remote.php

Though it comes with a power adapter, you can easily create a 9v battery power adapter. It's just knowing the power adapter plug size and two wires to a 9v battery thingy. The unknown is how long a battery will last. You could also in theory go Solar Power or fusion power once that is figured out.

@magicjoe
It's not my product though I know what it is just based on a picture.

Un pair Bluetooth and Repair the connection.

In Control Center, swipe up you should see th AirPlay button. Use it to select your music player.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204091

The problem with Bluetooth is disconnects. Apple devices might have different Bluetooth stacks and AD2P profiles than your 3rd party accessory.

It's always best to run wires.

John,

You have to troubleshoot and eliminate.

Can you AirPlay with the stock music app?

Is so its a bug in the latests ShowCues. If not then it's either your Bluetooth profile or the sound system.

Delete the Bluetooth profile and repair it. Go to a electronics store and see if AirPlay works.

However he has a picture of 200 remotes that can be seen on his Facebook page. That is a good sign.

I'm hoping he releases a Video with proof of a working prototype. That is what I would do.

Instead it's a preorder and a month delivery.

All we could do is wait and see. I personally do not advice anyone to buy a unit till a simple real life video appears and not a cartoon.

Bradacal,

They are trying to have the remote ready for sale sometime in November if all goes well with the manufacturer.

It has tested with a range of over 1000 feet and should be the best remote on the market.

One day while testing the remote. He called me from the office, took the elevator downstairs walked outside the building and around the block with the remote still working!

Once they are ready for sale, I am sure they will post a new video.

I am very much looking forward to it and hope it is on schedule.

Thanks for asking,
Carl

That'll be handy if the audience is chasing you out of the theatre! LOL

Well, the guy must have read what I wrote.

If you subscribed to the newsletter their are several pics of the actual unit, check for Update #5 newsletter.

Still no video but at least you could see the receiver, antenna and the connectors. Would be a good idea to post the pics on your Facebook page or the website.

How about a video? It will take you 3 minutes to record and 5 minutes to upload to YouTube.

I am at sea and internet is down but today in port just read this post Bradacal. It would be best to contact me by email. Nick W, yes Show Cues will work with iTunes 10. iTunes has no effect on the App.

I got 3 Private Messages so far about Audio Ape.

Their remote and receiver is using Linx Tech parts so the range of 1,000 ft is accurate. I use Linx Tech parts with my PC and get 1,000ft easily in open areas such as a football field, park. The ONLY catch is that you have to plugin in the receiver to electricity or a battery pack.

The problem I see with this system is that the guy hasn't released a video showing a working unit. The pictures of the receiver and remote look very promising. But last time someone asked for money and promised delivery of a remote control unit was Kelly Duro with his VSM Boombox. Many Café members got burned and lost money on that deal. That is the reason I am asking for a VIDEO SHOWING IT WORKING.

Personally I would wait, its only $100 more and no Audio Ape shirt. Then in February you can see if anyone actually gets a system delivered and that it works. Also according to their Facebook they have a booth at Daytona Magic on November 6-8th. So maybe someone in the Café will personally test drive it.

I have to agree with gothlike. I have seen to many problems in the past to hand over my money on just a promise that something will be available in the future and will do what we want it it to do.

I'll wait for some reviews and an actual product release.

Not the best resolution but I could hear and see it working correctly.

If anyone at Daytona Magic Convention can share you experience.

Does this app have airturn support? That would be quite easy to build in and then no more remote issues... done.

Can any iJet remote be used with Show Cues, or only the Conjuring Cabinet version? The downloadable manual for the Conjuring Cabinet says that a magnetic reed switch will be functional on it in the future, so I'm wondering if that is a currently working feature. Thanks!

Yes any iJet remote will work with Show Cues, however there are important features that we have built into the show cues version. The main feature is the anti sleep function. This will keep your device from shutting off power and access to the 30 pin or lightning port during extended periods. We also have a customizable center button and the magnetic reed switch. The standard iJet remote does not have these features. Hope that helps.

I just got the first of the new AudioApe remotes. It has the best range and feel of any remote in the market. They thought of everything and it is a dream remote control for Show Cues on your Apple Device. You will be able to get if from Conjuringcabinet.com . The rest of them should be shipping in the next couple weeks and the first run is almost sold out.

Hi guys.

Mr Late To The Party here.
This stuff looks great but a tad over priced. £70 for the app??? £400 for the remote :wow:

Most of you wont know me. This is me: http://www.dougsegal.co.uk
I do a minimum of 50 public solo theatre shows a year playing theatres of up
to around 350 seats.

I also do a further 50 or so comedy club/cabaret club shows playing to between 50 & 2,000 people.

I'll do one or two festivals a year typically in the comedy tent seating circa 2,000.

Finally I'll do about 20 corporate shows for events with from around 100 to 1,000 people.

I feel it's fair to say I have experience of most of the performing environments any of you are likely to encounter.

This is my solution to running my own sound cues from stage.

I use
http://www.soundcueapp.com this does everything that £70 app does but is only £15 & works on iPhone & iPad at no extra cost.

I connect it via Bluetooth to a Bluetooth receiver. Specifically this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00IJYG4FY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1464684604&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=Logitech+Bluetooth+Audio+Receiver+Adapter&dpPl=1&dpID=41638Ek0sNL&ref=plSrch it is £30.

I've not had a single issue with it in over a hundred uses but I carry a spare anyway because why not? It's only £30.

Now. It's not as robust as the Ape remote device. But it's a fraction of the cost. It also only has a range of 50ft but.... Well I'll come back to that.

I also carry a 2x 3.5mm Jack to 2x 3.5mm Jack lead, a 2x 3.5mm into twin xlr, a 2x 3.5mm to twin guitar jacks & a 2x 3.5 into stereo 3.5mm Jack. This covers every conceivable connection to the sound desk possible. Costs will depend on the quality you want. I spent around £45.

Now you say.... "What if the sound desk is over 50' away?"
If you are playing an actual theatre where the sound desk is over 50' they will have two things GUARANTEED: They will have onstage sound inputs (typically xlr) and they will have DI boxes with associated cabling. Because THEY have to get sound from the stage to their desk too.
You simply place your Bluetooth receiver onstage by the sound inputs, connect that to two di boxes (my preference) & the di boxes into the house system.

Likewise if you are doing a festival or a corporate of that size. Though to be fair if I'm playing a corporate that big I'm getting paid upward of £5,000 to do it so I usually bring my own technician.

So I guess what I'm saying is. This all looks great. But you can do everything this offers much cheaper and I'm one of those rare pros where there is actually clear documented evidence of me actually performing the volume of gigs I claim (ticket links on line, reviews, listings etc) so you can trust me when I say "I do this. And it works".

I used to think the same thing but I have to disagree with you, respectfully. I play a lot of similar venues. Theatres, to clubs etc.

Bluetooth, although good, is just that... good. A lot of things can happen with BT, disconnects and more. Sure, your success rate might be high, say even over 90% like mine probably was. But I need something that is 99.9%. Audio Ape is that. I bought one, love it. I suggest anyone looking for something that is beyond reliable do so too. As for a technician, yeah I loved having one but you're relying on someone else to hit your cues. With rehearsal, cost to pay the person, cost to travel with this person , the remote will save you tons!

Sorry Ron you are out of luck at this point, ever since Apple has changed the way the Watch OS works......it used to work before, but no longer does.

What a bummer. Oh well I will just have to make a separate folder in itunes and play from there without extra control or use Show cues from my iphone as a stand alone.

Okay, I purchased Sound Cues last week, and really want to like it, because I like the features it has. However, frustratingly, the tracks almost always pause during playing, requiring me to hit play again. Obviously, this makes the app not suitable for use yet. I've reached out to Carl Andrews but haven't received a reply yet. I've tried this on an iPad Air 2, an iPhone, with the same issue occuring. The music is purchased, and resident on my devices. Has anyone faced these issues, and any satisfactory resolutions?

Thanks,

Sorry I have not been on this site for awhile and missed some messages. If anyone is having trouble with Show Cues, email me directly at carl@carlandrews.com. Try removing all individual track settings and see if you can run through the playlist without a problem. Let me know which remote you are using and if you have the same issue when running thru the playlist by touching the phone manually instead of by remote. Again I don't spend much time on the forums anymore, busy schedule, but email me directly. My email server was down for a couple months, long story, but working again. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can and help solve your issues. Thank you!
