I think Mark always does as great job at presenting a very broad range of options that suit ventriloquists in many markets and at many stages of their career. Certainly not an easy feat. A lecture or workshop I'd love to see would be on writing Original Material. It was ofcourse an absolute honour to see Jeff Dunham lecture this year but he didn't end up spending much time on the writing aspect. I think there is a lot of mystique around writing comedy. Many people thing that it is simply something innate and magical but then, plenty of people think that about ventriloquism too. The fact of the matter is that comedy writing can be learnt. If you have the ability to laugh at jokes, you have the ability to write them. It always disappoints me to see so many lectures, books and dvds painstaking teaching the technical side of ventriloquism then brushing over material by saying "just read some joke books." Our technical skill is important but what will really propel performers and the community as a whole forward will be originality. Clearly this is a bit of a hot topic for me and I could talk about it for hours. So I'll just leave it by saying; a lecture or workshop on writing Original Material would be of huge interest to me and hopefully others. [/quote]
