As Marty said, no matter how good your illusion is, you aren't convincing someone magic is real. But I agree with what you said about building yourself up before performing it. I've recently been presenting it after a few mental effects, with the suggestion that they are going to "trip" a little bit. Definitely gets huge reactions...much more than 30%. And even if some can guess at the method, that doesn't stop them from appreciating the beauty of the effect...as well as scratching at the TA card wondering how in the hell the ink/angel is capable of moving!
