I have seen a lot of bad magicians, telling the audience what they were going to do, stating the obvious ("look I have a deck of cards."), or over-proving by showing their hands empty after every move. This is signaling that somethign fishy went on and pulls them out of the suspension of disbelief and puts them in an analytical mode, where they will judge everything you do. I have nothing against tarot-card readings, which is different. If talking to the dead is done in a theatrical sense (in movies and on stage in a play (a magic show is play)) then I don't have a problem with that. I hope I made my point more clear.
