So I thought I'd make my own card fountain. It went pretty well as far as it goes. I vacuumformed a shell, got a electric motor and mounted a RC Car tire on it, and when I turn the motor on it kicks cards out very nicely for a decent distance.
The main problem...the motor tends to kick all the cards out in about half a second. It's fast. That gives the cards a nice distance, but it's over too soon. Anyone who's ever made one have any advice? Is there a better motor? More torque seems to be advisable as well...if the motor I'm using now starts out pressed to the cards it has trouble. If I let it spin up and then touch the cards, they shoot out beautifully. But I'd rather just have it start out pressed to the cards... |

Use a smaller wheel on the cards. It will slow things down. (If one revolution with a 2" wheel is about 6" travel, a 1" wheel will only be about 3" travel.)
You may also look into spring loading your card feed stack. Good Luck! Bob Magic By Sander |

You could also use the old method of thread and then wind the thread up onto a motorized wheel.
More setup but it is very dependable. Don't forget a drop cloth on the floor to help with cleanup of the cards.

Hi evanthx,
Use a smaller wheel for sure, add some more cards (people will not count the cards if more than 52 on the floor) and if it's not enough, change you motor. You can also control the speed of your motor with a variable resistor (potentiometer). Andre Le Magicien

Change around the motor and have a play around with different voltages. I made one for my year 12 systems and technology project. It uses a radio control backstage to set it off. If you need any help PM me. Good luck.

Do any of you make these to sell or have detailed plans... I have several ideas in some of my custom designs; however, the 400-500 dollars per fountian is a major setback. BRYAN
