Hi Gang,
I was at a Science Museum in the Columbus Ohio area, and while in the gift shop, I noticed that they were selling different magical effects. Most were just little trick decks that were more for kids and the smoke from finger tips goop in a tube, plus some little gags like the hand buzzer and hot pepper gum. What caught my eye was a video demonstration of a little critter called "The Wonder Worm". He is a little fuzzy worm who crawls up and down your arm, between your fingers, into your pocket, around a pencil, into a drinking glass etc. He was only $5.00 so my curiousity got the best of me so I purchased one. Although I knew the secret after watching the vid, I had to buy the little guy. Well after getting him home, I was delighted to see the incredible amount of fun one can have with these. Especially in the eyes of children. I am only 26, but my mom said that these were popular back in the late 60's and early 70's. She knew the secret as she had one herself back when. My question is does anybody else still use these little guys? I am thinking of some different ideas for routines where he could be used. Maybe to find a selected card, or maybe he could be a mentalist? If anyone still uses these little buggers, what are some creative ideas on how he could become an assistant in any magical feat? I've rambled long enough. Please discuss........ Phil

I never had the worm but I have Trixie The Wonder Mouse. Trixie takes a lot of work to make her truly Magical and I suppose that the worm is no different.
I can be of no help here but I would be interested in your progress as you work with your worm . There is at least one video that I know of for Trixie. Is there a video available for the Wonder Worm? Iven

This little wonder has been mentioned a time or two here at the Café'. I used one in performance during my Saint Pat's day Pub crawl! I mentioned it at:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......3&26 Tommy Wonder earned a living pitching these beauties back in the late 60's and through the 70's. Brian Flora actually made a Pitch Tape that included instructions on building a poorman's version of this worm. Sadly Brian passed away recently but his wife continues the business and probably has a copy of the tape. I used to pitch the item back in the late 70's. It was an easy sell.

I don't know of any "instuctional" videos. The only one that I saw was the demo video at the gift shop. Maybe a google search will turn something up. As for handling and performance, maybe it is just something that you have to develop on your own from practice. I don't use IT that much so there will be more practice required on my end. Maybe if we can find the website of the company that makes them, they may have some handling tips and techniques.

The Don Driver “Svengali Pitch Video” actually has a segment on the handling of this little prop. http://www.magicpitch.com/catalog/produc......ts_id=19
Further, Brian Flora (Flora & Company) used to have a nice video that not only showed you how to use this little prop but how to make one from scratch to pitch. It was his “Magic Pitch” video. You might want to email them to see if it is still available. Check out: http://floraco.safeshopper.com/index.htm?314
