I've been a flourisher for a pretty long while now and there must be tons of sybil variations out there. I had an idea of what the original sybil cut was. I just read Chris Kenner's Totally out of control and Sybil was much different from what I thought it was. I heard that Troy Hoosier has some history behind it. Can someone please tell me some history of this flourish and possibly post avid of Troy's?

What I know about it personally is that Chris Kenner and Troy Hooser were out first with it, not sure who published it first though. Chris Kenners version is leading into a nice 5 packet display, hence the name The 5 Faces of Sybil, while Troy Hoosers version keeps going a little longer and then ends up in a triangle formation which is Joey Burtons idea.
I personally like Chris Kenners version about it more. Then you can ask people from Handlordz who claim that it was published as impossible stacks about 100 years ago, I don't take part of that information as I don't quite trust it, each to their own though.

Harwin is right. Kenner and Troy are the proud pappas of the move. Whether some one else was doing it before is a moot point since Troy and Chris were the first to publish it. And I beleive (could be wrong) that the first written form of it was in The Magic Man Examiner.
Justin Miller As far as handlordz....yea..right! |

Boy um, I remember Jerry Cestkowski saying that it goes way back before Chris Kenner and Troy Hooser, and that Ricky Jay was doing it way before. Since Jerry is the author of the grand Encylopedia of Playing Card Flourishes, he is likely to be right.

Yeah yeah yeah it goes back and back and back until he cant prove it was published before Hooser/Kenner.
I remember him giving Kenner/Hooser some kind of credit at least.

According to Brian Tudor, Sybil started with Gianni Mattiolo’s “Illogical Shuffle”, which was published in “Apocalypse vol 8” in 1985.
