RooMan. I just love that use of a ball of yarn. (make it a 'yellow ball of Yarn'!) I can just see the spectator rolling it out and holding one end!! This really would fire up the spectators! Lovely thinking. I would love to hear from others just how they present the effect.
With best wishes Andy. |

Thanks, guys! Actually, I'd have to credit the "connection" idea to the late, great Tony Andruzzi. Many years ago we corresponded via cassette tape (Don't you know I wish I had kept those tapes!) and he had the brilliant notion of using a rope or string stretched far between performer and spec for some other mentalist bit, exactly which I don't recall now. I think it was a basic card routine but the point was it was a great piece of theatre for any number of routines. For me it seemed a natural for the Remote Die because of the slim possibility of noise but it quickly proved a much more valuable addition than just that.
But it goes back waaaayyyy farther than that. It's right on the tip of my brain stem but I can't remember where I've seen it. |

Something like this might be neat to put the vibrator receiver in:

I want to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread as I read everything carefully before ordering the JAM Magic die. I was most persuaded by the feature that this works with or without a box. I'm planning to start my routine using a box to draw suspicion and then eliminate the box as the routine continues. Both products had numerous rave reviews by users and I don't think I could have made a bad choice.
The 2" JAM cube is absolutely beautiful. This one is made from Bocote wood (like I know anything about exotic woods) and has a very professinal presentation. I was concerned how pronounced the receiver vibration would be in both the amount of noise produced yet being pronounced enough to reveal the selection without distraction. Needless to say, this is a winner on both counts. I am using the "sock" method noted in earlier threads and it appears virtually silent while being very noticable to the performer. The receiver is small and easily concealed. Its operation holds true to its billing and may easily be performed in a box, open on a flat serface or even simply held behind your back. I have not yet tested the range but have been using it consistently at 30'. The cube also has a sleep mode to preserve battery life. Dave Mitchell (JAM Magic) was on the road touring and still was extremely responsive in answering my repeated questions (phone and email) and shipped my order promptly. You obviously can't go wrong with either product and it easily comes down to which best suits your performance needs. Dan. |

Thanks Dan for the great review. I appreciate the way you weighed everything before you made the purchase and gave the reasons you chose JAM MAGIC's Die. Yes I agree, by all the reviews I have read that both products would be considered a winner if it meets the expectations and needs of the peformer. Thanks again for choosing our die and taking the time to send that review.

I Ordered a Mini Remote Die Vision Cube from Tim, custom made. It is rare to actually talk to a maker of magic and get exactly what you want!
This Cube far exceeded my expectations! After dealing with major magic manufacturers for about 40 years, I came to expect: take what you can get. Not with Tim! And this is almost idiot proof! One buzz for one, and so on, I cannot miss! I work a lot with kids, mostly family audiences, and this routine can be used with adults also, and I have, changing the patter slightly. Here is what I have been doing. First of all, I do not like to use any of my props as "magic props" but common objects". And then I like to give a reason for using them. Here is my routine: I say "One summer when I was a kid, I went to my PawPaw's house every week. He was a carpenter and a gambler, and he made this nice little toy for me."({ and this looks just like something my Paw Paw would have made 40 years ago.}) "He would play a game. He would put the die in the box, and if I guess right, I would get $5.00! If I guessed wrong, I had to cut the grass! And man, I cut a lot of grass that summer!(laugh). But now he passed on and left this box to me. It is near Halloween, and he comes back and helps me with this, so lets try it." I tell the kid what to do and turn my back. And the rest is build up. Sometimes I say my paw paw will get me "ice cream"! If I win! I had one waitress bring me free Ice Cream! After she shouted and the whole place turned to see what happened! But now I do "Childs Play" first with the marbles to win "ice cream" daily at paw paw's house. And Die Vision weekly for $5 or cut the grass! What a summer at pawpaw's house! There are always grown ups around, and it fries them! And the story is almost believable! The adults fall right into the story. One grown guy put the lid on upside down! Sometimes I say I am counting the number of times they blink their eyes to see the number. They really buy into this. One lady said, let me try, and closed her eyes! And yes, the more you do it, the more amazing it gets, and more than once someone put it in the box, then took it out, so not only did I know the number they started with, but then that it was empty. So I said,"your mind is blank"!, etc. For one I say, you are number one, 2, I do my finger in a piece sign., 5, hi five, etc! Tim, stop making these! lol, no really , keep up the good work. ACE

I am looking for an electronic cube effect that uses the puzzle box from Hellraiser. I saw one on eBay a while back, but missed bidding on it. Any idea who makes or sells one? Thanks

I just got Tim's Remote Vision Die Regular size in the mail today. It looks totally innocent and is so easy to work that you do not have to worry about it. Just concentrate on a good presentation. It is angle proof, reliable and can be done on stage or a house party, for kids or adults. This is one of the most versatile props which will be going into most of my Magic Shows. Thanks, Tim for a great product. Highly recommended unless you perform shows in my Town! Then I do not recommend it. Cheers!
