Hi rvigon,
Here is a great site with a lot of animal magic. http://www.magictricks.com/animal/animalmagic.htm They have some great illusions with mostly smaller sized animals such as rabbits and doves. It is a good place to get started. I recommend the Bunny Box and the Rabbit Wringer. Thanks -Martin- |

Doves are small and easy to use, they make cooing noises at 5:00 am or when daylight breaks. They are easy to pack and carry.
Rabbits are always accepted well, they are quiet and most of the time gentle. They require more daily maintenance then Doves and require bigger props to use. More than one magician who switched fom doves to rabbits felt the switch was most productive and did not want to go back to doves. Rabbits can have an affect on those people who have allergies to cats. Three members of my family can only hold the rabbits for an hour then they start to sniffle and sneeze. This is why they stay outdoors. Rabbits also poop a lot! The bigger the rabbit the more you have to clean their area. Both in an act is appealing but it is not the reason to get one. Other animals are OK I guess but I have no desire to own lions, and tigers, and bears. (Oh My!)

Many folks put the cart before the horse.....
Yes you must first decide to create an act around an animal, but first, you must learn to appreciate and understand it's personality before you would even think of using him/her in an act that would be entertaining to your groups. One first must acquire said horse.... care for it.... learn to appreciate it's personality.... watch for it's natural tendencies... create an effect around it's natural tendencies for the easiest route.... or begin the forever journey of "Training" your companion. Training begins from the very first day your animal arrives..... You must remain consistent throughout your relationship...... Back to basics.... first go out and learn about your choice of animal.... learn as much as you can.... and then make the decision to purchase it..... Remember to figure in all of the costs of maintaining a healthy environment for your animal of choice... now, can you also afford to feed it a balanced diet as well.... can you also afford to transport it as well? Licensing fees, city ordinances regarding the ownership of exotics.. Can you also afford to build an Illusion or act around it? Can you afford to provide the lengthy amount of time needed to care for your animal? etc... etc..... Many things to consider before even purchasing a cart eh? Ready to make your purchase, or learn more of your exotic? Go here http://www.altpet.net Good luck... |
