Hi - I would love to see Steve's rendition of this. Is this out on any of his tapes?
Thanks. |

No, unfortunately Steve's performance of this routine is not on any of his published tapes. Steve told me himself that not even he has a tape of his performance.

It's a great routine, with plenty of room for personalized character insertion. I like the ability to improvise on the fly with the routine. If you've got a great volunteer, you can really milk the laughs. I so glad Steve put this out.

When I was looking for a rope routine, I checked out In Over Your Head. It just wasn't for me and I stuck with Whit Hayden's Mongolian Pop Knot.

Steve showed me a tape of the beginnings of this routine. It was when he was still developing it. He was performing in a comedy club and though the routine wasn't the finished masterpiece of routining that it ended up being... even at this early stage in development it packed in loads of big laugh moments that he has intrinsically built into the routine.
The finished routine is brilliantly constructed and is something that has been put together within the context of a real working environment. The sleights are all pretty standard and the routining and spectator managment is the work of a real craftsman. It's one of those routines that really comes alive even when reading the manuscript. As you can tell I like it a lot. Cheers Neal
