I just bought a dozen 3/8" x 12" hardwood dowels for a buck!! I can't wait to get started creating more wands. I'll try to post some photos when I complete a few.

Hey everyone,
I finally finished my first wand with the batch of dowels I bought. Mahogany stain with chrome-plated brass tips. What do you think? http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee204......94463824 More to come. -Vinny |

It shows what a bundle of wood can be turned into with a little time and creativity. Nice job Vinny!!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!
Sdmagic, I don't know what it is exactly, I just found some tubing lying around my basement and when I cut it with the pipe cutter, the cross section (and incredibly hard nature) led me to conclude its composition. I wish I had more of it, I think it looks great. -Vinny |

Maybe it's pipe from a faucet or toilet fitting. These are often chromed and are about the right size.
The wand does look really nice and having it chrome means that it will clean up nicely and won't corrode very easily.

Those look fantastic!
I've been looking for tips that would cap the ends around here for ages with no joy. Something like a metal ferrule for a walking cane I guess. Looking at that wand I'm thinking maybe they look plenty good without that |

Thanks L Trunk
As soon as I get more material for tips, I will post more pictures. I saw at a local hardware store, brass tubing for 3 bucks a foot. They were all out of the 3/8" diameter size, but when they get more in, that will help me finish a few more. -Vinny |

Thanks!
However, it has been done before. It certainly is not my original idea to make a bullet wand. -Vinny |

Thanks for the compliments! I like the look of my first wand better, but the weight of the bullet wand seems more comfortable.
Oh well, I guess that means either make more or purchase a new one. P.S. Tabman wands are beautiful...hopefully one will be in my near future. -Vinny |
