I recently purchased an old copy of this book but it has no date. No title page or copyright page. Here's a little description:

Red book with black images of two doves, a gun, a magician putting a knife through a basket. There is some shiny gold on the front cover. The spine displays the word "Illustrated" in an oddly spelled manner with letters inside of linking rings. The name of the publisher, "Routledge," appears at the bottom of the spine.

This edition also contains an appendix with material on Houdin, Cooke, and automatons which evidently is not in the first edition.

I'm thinking it's one of the early American publications.

Anyone have any information on these undated Modern Magic editions?

Also, it's stamped by The New York Magical Exchange. Anyone know what that is?

Thanks,
Smile

It could be tough to determine the exact
edition/pinting of the book as there are dozens and dozens of them. Most of my
copies do not have this information either.
