I didn't know where to post this, So I was just wondering how would I take off the one number on the serial so I can have duplicit bills, someone told me to use an eraser, so I tried that and it didn't work so where do I go from here??
Thankyou, Jeff

Prison? You just confessed to a violation of Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code.

Did you use an ink eraser or just a regular pencil eraser? Has worked fine for me for the last 30 some years.
Cheers!

Oh, wait! You said in your "confession" that it didn't work. No prison for you, young man. However, Stanyon may be in big trouble.
You will find other methods that do not require the defacing of treasury notes. One example is in my article "Lime Kicker" in The Wizards' Journal #10, in which a dollar bill vanishes and ends up inside a lime which is found inside a can of Pepsi Lime soda. No erasing required!

Just use a small blade and scrape it off.

Use sandpaper. For a more detailed instruction, you can pick up Daniel Garcia's Fraud DVD. It covers this topic in great detail.

Lou has the right answer, use a razor blade and scatch it off.

Pencil eraser has worked well for me.
In a pinch, try this with two consecutive bills; "Sir, please remember the 8 digit serial number on this bill... No? Okay, how about just the first 4 or 5 numbers." I've done it before, and it blows right by them.

I use a battery operated eraser that I got from an art supply store. They usually come with a hard and soft eraser. I use the hard eraser and it works for me. I have been doing this way for the past 10 years. Before that I use an ink eraser with mixed results.

I don't mind going to prison, I'll just have to make a magical escape! But thanks to everyone that answered my question, that's why the magic Café is so helpful. I will try all of these method and see which one I perfer.
