Hi
I have John Cornelius Perfect Pen thru anything. But, do you know how to replace the cartridge in the tip? And is it possible? I have lost the instructions.... Thanks Kristian |

The instructions also suggest that you cut the refill to fit but remove some of the ink using a cocktail stick. Hope this helps |

I bought a Cornelius Perfect Pen with his DVD several years ago and it came without tip, but I glue a tip from a Papermate pen and that's it.
If I need to write something or show the pen for examination, I just switch it with the ungimmick one. |

Mind_Magic I think you probably have the original pen thru anyting. The Perfect Pen was released more recently and does not require a switch to an ungaffed pen. The gaff is neatly contained in the pen but the pen appears to be a normal pen to the spectator (who can actually handle the pen - gaff and all). It's a nice addition to the idea of pen thru anything.

Allow me to revive this old thread, I have the same question.
I just got the Perfect Pen second hand as part of a larger collection (can't contact the previous owner), and it has what appear to be the original instructions. It has a section on how to refill the pen, but the only description on how to pull the ink cartridge is this "Now hold the tip of the pen and move it back and forth wile pulling on the gimmick to expose the ink cartridge", then it points to a drawing. I keep pushing and pulling, but it doesn't feel like it's getting loose at all. Do you have any tips? I guess it's possible that the previous owner glued it, but I'm hoping I'm just doing it wrong. Thanks! |

Doesn't the text mean, while pulling, to rotate the tip back and forth at the same time. Back and forth and pulling and pushing are to different actions. Although, I would just pull while rotating back and forth.
Another way of saying this is to turn the tip left and right while pulling the tip out toward you. |

I have purchased Perfect Pen from PropDog recently, and the pen doesn't write. So I was thinking about replacing the ink cartridge. But I'm having the same problem as Orlan's. I received three sheets of paper as instruction. And It says the same thing : "Remove gimmick. Now hold the tip of the pen and move it back and forth wile pulling on the gimmick to expose the ink cartridge. Remove the ink cartridge. ..."
Despite my effort, I can't pull it even if I try as suggested by Bill. (If someone wants me a proof of purchase, I can show this in PM but I need help - it's really bad if I can't make the spectator write with this pen). |

Are you pulling only on the brass tip, and not any other portion of the very end tip.
New ink cartridges need to have the seal removed before the ball can turn and deliver ink. Have you tried the scribbling on paper until ink flows or carefully hold a light flame to only the tip that contains the ball. Do not hold it over a second. This usually melts the seal so ink will flow. If all else fails use a needle noise pliers to hold and twist. |

Mh1001, If Bill's suggestions don't work I would suggest emailing or calling Prop Dog. They have the best customer service imaginable and they go to the most extraordinary lengths to ensure their customers are completely happy with their purchases.

Thanks guys for suggestions. I'll try as suggested. If really it doesn't help, I will contact Prop Dog, and see if they know what to do.

Ok guys, I just wanted to say that I have contacted Prop Dog but Dave was unable to put it off (the brass tip) for me. I asked him if he knows John Cornelius contact info, but he says he didn't, and advised me to seek help at the Magic Café, here.
I have tried day after day to put it off, little by little, hoping that one day, it would come off. But still nothing. And it's been two months. So if someone here knows how to do it, or if someone knows Cornelius contact mail, feel free to send me a PM. Thanks. |

Hey mh1001,
I sort of gave up and haven't tried in a while, but I'm still looking for a way to do this. I might give it another try soon, let me know if you're successful! |

Ok, so someone here on the Café managed to remove that brass tip. He explained that to me in PM. I asked him if I can copy paste his message. Here :

I basically followed the instructions - pulling the 2 pieces apart while trying to 'move' the tip back and forth as I pulled. Like I said, there were times I thought I was doing something wrong, or it wasn't possible. Plus, it is hard to get a good grip - both pieces are small and slippery. If you've got a piece or 2 of thin rubber - like those things grips that are designed to help unscrew twist-off bottle tops - that would be very helpful. I ended up not needing one, but it might make the difference. I didn't manage to get the tip off but I will keep going. It's extremely hard to do. But I hope the above tip would help. |
