Hello:
I've recently been waiting for a couple packages from individuals; both were sent via Parcel Post from the midwest to my home in the Phoenix area. It's been nearly 2 weeks. I'm curious if Parcel Post is really that slow - neither one has arrived yet, so I don't think both could be lost (sent from different people). Has anyone here had good or bad experiences with PP? Also, I notice on ebay, sometimes a seller will state that the item will be sent via Flat rate service. Anyone know what that means? I know of Flat Rate Priority, but I think this is different. Thanks for any help you can provide. Ron |

P.P. can take a long time it is the similar as media mail. You should get it with in 15 to 20 days at the most if shipped in and to a US address.

Remember - it's legally the SELLER'S RESPONSIBILITY to get the package to you, insurance or no. And no pre-order disclaimer can change that.

Ron according to the USPS Website it states "Parcel Post can take anywhere from
7-10 in order for you to receive the item except during busy time such as Christmas, Mothers Day, & Tax Time. If your package is to bedeliverd during this time it can take up to 28 before you recive the item. And since it is Tax time I would give it a few days if not, call the person whom you purchased the item/s from. Rodney

I'm surprised they did add confirmation to your parcel post.
sometimes its faster than you realize. but the price differece between parcel/media and first class and first class and priority is not very much. oddly enough, I sent a package to the UK and it took only a week to get there...where as the package from the UK took 3 weeks to get to me. where as with Canada, it takes longer for mail to get delieved no matter what. the joke was, if you mailed a letter two blocks away from you, it would take 2 weeks to get there.

Thanks, everyone, for the responses. I think from now on, I'm going to go only with Priority and pay the little extra.

I have had parcel post take up to 23 days for me. If the seller ships with a 'standard flat rate shipping service', find out what it is, it could be a flat rate box, or parcel post.
I always ask them to send it priority mail for the few dollars more. Parcel post is not much of a bargain if you have to wait so long.

So far, I've shipped Parcel Post three times. Twice, the Postal Service lost my packages. I'm not impressed.

First Class Mail and Priority Mail incur the same delivery time. The only difference is with PM you get the 'Free" boxes and delivery confirmation is included, otherwise they go through the same channels. I think they purposely let Parcel Post sit around before they process it to force us to use a more expensive method of delivery.

First class and media mail can have a huge difference in price.
When I have to ship a box of 100 DVDs to NYC it cost about $8.00. Now if I would ship them first class it cost about $36.00 IT is only a savings when you ship larger items smaller packages only sometimes have savings of pennies!
