I need a very small Freezer unit with a thik glass top for a display. I wish to freeze the exhibit in a block of ice.
see http://MightyManmmoth.com It needs to be very small...no bigger top than 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 and minimum 10 inches thick in the box. Any geniuses out there? Running off batteries even better. Doug

Point
When you tilt a refrigerator or freezer in any other orientation then what's supposed to be up, the oil in the lines usually freezes and stops circulating, you then loose the ability to cool. How about getting an ice cream freezer, removing the actual freezing unit and cutting the box to size then reinstalling the freezing unit? Plan B Dry Ice.... you can build the box out of the Dow foam... link http://building.dow.com/styrofoam/na/pro......ndex.htm Possibly a Cold Door Repair business can sell you the foam because it comes in large sheets and there's always some left over even if you (HINT) glue smaller pieces together to make a large one!!! Good luck

Small spelling error... the correct address is: http://mightymammoth.com/
What about encasing it with acrylic so it just looks like it is in the ice? You could also cool the outside of the glass slightly so it feels cold to the touch. Seems to me it may be hard to keep a ice block that big solid without a large device; But if you wish to do it, you may want to look into rigging up a Koolatron somehow. http://www.koolatron.com/ Sam |

NO tilt necessary as 'they' would look down into it.
But the dry ice is a good alternate with a foam box. Cool. Other option is a FAKE Freezer with a running fan or something and have the Zibit encased in Lucite (fake Ice.) I can't build that type stuff though. Out of my realm. Thanks so far!!! we posted same time. Thanks for the address catch. Yeah I have a guy wants to use the plastic to encase it.

You might be able to saw the top of this http://www.compactappliance.com/CMF151L-......,pd.html or put a thick window in the top. The window would be cold to the touch, that might be important.

Doug, you can sculpt... you can work with the clear resin! PM me if you need details. It's easy stuff to work with.

Oug, if you want a fan in your freezer, consider one from a computer; small and batter operated with modification. Ed Solomon has used them in several effects.
