I've been reviewing my Daryl DVDs and enjoying the research; one bit that caught my attention is "Dissolvo," a knotted silk on a rope that melts through the rope.
Daryl holds the upper end in his mouth while pinning the lower end with his foot. Yeccchh! That just seems inelegant and I don't like the hunched posture it forces me into while performing. Solution: A loop tied into the upper end of the rope, which then achors on a Sharpie in my shirt pocket. FWIW, Leland |

Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki has a spectator hold the rope in one hand, while stepping on the other end with his foot. This is incorporated into his Blendo Rope routine, so instead of a silk through the rope, he pulls one rope through another, both ropes being different colors and chosen by the spectators who are helping him. He also ties the knot in a different direction than used in the original Harold Rice "Dissolvo" effect. Rice pushed the silk through the rope from behind. Qua-Fiki pulls the rope through the spectator's rope towards himself. It's a small difference, but works better for staging what comes next in his routine.
