I like Aldo and Rachel Colombini's take on this effect. I also like Maven's original version in Videomind, and remember being baffled by it before watching the explanations section.

Hmmm. Cubes, marbles, and bags oh my! This is a tough one. On one hand the effect can be done sans any gimmicks or expensive electronics, on the other hand electronics can allow for cleaner(?) technique. I just don't know. I would have to do it both ways and see if there really is any difference to an audience in the perception of the fairness of the effect, or if this is just a case of magicians thinking like magicians. Interesting.

Just received a dvd (Take Two)by Aldo Colombini and it has Elimination on it which is 5 colored balls in a bag, no gimmicks and magi predicts which color ball will be left for him.Simple, direct and entertaining and can basically be done with anything such as 5 coins with different dates, 5 colored chips, etc. Very good.

I agree Rizzo, I like the versions that can be done with any items, as it can make the entire performance seem impromptu.

A few weeks ago I performed this using 5 sweeties (candy) that were left in the packet. I had carefully eaten the sweets so that I have 4 of one colour and 1 of a different colour, then went into the effect.
