I was invited to appear last year (which was quite an honor) but that is during my peak time of the fair season where I perform so I will have to wait a few years before I can make it.
It is on my "bucket list" !

LOL. I should have known that, since we JUST discussed the fair/festival business. Duh!
I think you would be a great addition to the line-up. This August (assuming I can afford it and convince the wife that I need to be there) will be my first convention. Well, perhaps another time.

Wait, I thought Crazy Cup was the one with the straw? Anyone have that one?

The Crazy Cup IS indeed the one with the straw. Jef was talking about the Fun Tray, where the tray is used as a wand holder, but they keep falling. The magician then puts cups on they tray, but they keep falling over, etc. It's a great comedy item.
The item you are talking about is the "Big Gulp" style cup with a straw that keeps misbehaving.

Right, I was confused since he addressed me personally in the response but talked about the wrong item. I was looking for reviews on this cup and straw trick Crazy Cup.

I think Jef said he was going out of town for a week or so. I don't own the trick, but the video on his website looks like it might play well. I don't know the workings, but I would have to imagine that--at the least--it cannot be done surrounded. Perhaps Jef will have a way to check the forums and chime in.

Hey Powermagic. I am sorry for the confusion. The Crazy Cup (singular) is the one where the straw moves in the cup and then flies out. The Fun Tray is the trick where the wand and the cups fall off the tray.
I emailed a guy recently who asked the same type of questions regarding angles, and I told him I use it at fairs. If you have people on the sides of you they will probably realize how the first part works, but there are some nuances that change the operation during the trick and they wouldn't figure out the second part, but as I explained to him,it is really funny and it is not actually a "mind blowing magic trick" but a very funny gag, so I continue to use it for the laugh it gets. It's reminds me of the Growing Head Illusion,as it also can't be viewed from the sides (the audience on the sides can't see what is going on)but I would still use it in the show as it gets a great reaction from the people sitting in front. I hope that clears up some of the questions. Regards, Jef

I would like to compliment Jef on the fabulous service that you've given me. As you well know that I use your effects and Tommy James in my performances---mind you, I've made some changes in all those effects a bit to try and make them a bit more audience involvement and funnier, but the basic effect and working remains.
I was a bit puzzled why you discontinued the Hank Trick--it's one of the funniest routine in my show. The props are more than a trick, it is basically a utility stand and can be adopted to other tricks--it's small, compact , visual and light weigh. I would recommend that all children entertainers go back and take a look at this piece of laugh a minute effect. Thanks a lot for all the help and helping out with some of the props I needed. although you not stock them anymore. Tricky Ricky |

Hey Ricky, I appreciate the nice comments. I originally designed the Hank Trick for a clown friend of mine who works birthdays mostly, and then thought the switching stand looked really good so I put it on the market. It is basically the same effect as the Comedy Carton so when I ran out of the short tubes I discontinued it. I have to have the tubes made in that short size and I needed to order 100 at a time. The call was not enough to make them again. But, you never know. I might put it out again with some additions.
The main reason I build stuff is that I love to design and think up crazy stuff. The first development of the trick to the finished piece is really fun. Building 100 of them however, is not so much fun. That's why I keep coming up with new stuff to keep the old mind going. I have 6 new items in production or just released for this year, with a 7th almost finished. Between the new stuff, and trying to keep the older stuff in stock takes more time than you think, so I will stop this post and get to work cutting french fries for the Ketchup n' Fries trick. Thanks to all the guys who have commented on how much they like the Kandumagic line of props (boy, that sounds like we have a factory or something)and I will keep trying to come up with fun stuff to "keep 'em laughing!"

Thanks for bringing this thread back. I really appreciate the support from the magic community on my props. I am always trying to come up with some off the wall items, and will keep doing just that.
And yes Derrick, you can have the first one. Almost ready for release.

Ok Jef...My "Ketchup Fries N More" set arrived today! (only 2 days!) You are AMAZING ! The set looks just wonderful. Right out of the box, quickly set up, and only briefly practiced, I demonstrated the routine to my wife and daughter to wonder and thrilled smiles! I have wanted to find a way to show this illusion to children for YEARS ! and you have made it just GREAT! I have some real work ahead to make this as much fun and amazement as I possibly can but I can't WAIT to use it in a show! My only request now is that you never make any more or sell any more of these because they are so WONDERFUL that I want to be one of only a few people in the world to have a set! I own a L O T of magic stuff... WAY more than I need because I have a severe case of M.A.D. (Magic Acquisition Disorder)! This set is one of the highest quality most creative pieces I have ever owned and I am so grateful to you for the idea and the opportunity to bring this routine into my shows! Well done in EVERY way! Thank you again for your great product, great customer service and over the top commitment to the magic community.

Thanks Mr Piper for the glowing review of the Ketchup Fries n' More trick. I hope you entertain lots of folks with it. I have a mentor whose last name is Piper. He was a puppeteer and then designer of museums, displays, etc. He is now retired and living in a facility here in Orlando. We have coffee every week I am in town. We have been friends for almost 60 years.
And if anyone is interested, I have a set of these still in stock.
