I'm not a pro, I don't have a huge collection, but out of the 40-odd DVDs I have, I'd say the best value for close-up that I paid for was:
-In the Trenches by Paul Green (look for reviews - not flashy or fancy stuff, but strong, easy to comprehend, working magic - I'm not a card guy, but Jeopardy was worth the price of the DVD) Depending on your audience (I like kids), Quentin Reynolds' 5 Minutes With a Pocket Handkerchief was well worth my money. Adults like it too, but they find it easier to enjoy if kids are the main audience, in my limited experience. Otherwise, pick a particular sort of effect you want to learn and ask about specific instruction for that. I'm currently all excited about cups and balls, linking rings, and the 3 ball trick. The WGM videos for these particular tricks are very useful for me as I am trying to learn by seeing a lot of different interpretations. In no particular order, other DVDs that I have found very helpful and interesting: -Bill Abbott Performs Stand-Up for Kids -Brad Burt's DVD on Billiard Balls and Thimbles -Fiber Optics (people are mixed on this and I may not use much at all, but it really got me thinking, which is the real value of it) -All of Patrick Page's Secret Seminars videos -40 Ways to Force a Card -Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Card Miracles vol. 2 (the only one I have, but there's more magic there than I am likely to use anytime soon) -Patrick |

The relatively new Card College DVD set covers volumes 1 & 2 of the 5-volume book corpus.

If your into sankey, "Front Row Sankey" is one of my favorites from him.
Tommy Wonder's "vision of wonder" is great. I would suggest reading the books of wonder first then using the dvd's as an extra learning source. Michael Vincents dvds are great also. I only have his first set, but I have heard some great things about the others as well. |
