Hello All,
I am very new to the magic scene and was wondering if anyone could recommend a website or two that would help me get started with maybe a trick or two. Just some simple things to get the ball rolling.

You might be better picking up a book or video. There are many good starter buys listed around this site in various topics. What are your areas of interest in magic? Cards? Coins?
The reason why I would suggest this is so that you can see how interested you are, and it is always better to acquire things for yourself than to rely on things on the net. Are there any magic shops near you that you could go to talk to someone?
There are websites out there but I am not sure that this would be the best way to go about it.
Somewhere like: Allmagic.com
might help you start your search.

I know a website. It's a very good website, with lots of information about magic on it. It doesn't have tricks, however, but is certainly a good starting place.

The learned pig and allmagic are good sources but for beginners it´s maybe a category too heavy. Books could be Harry Loraines "Magic Book". Another book called
"Klutz Book of Magic" (order via Amazon) is really good for beginners and comes with some great items..

My vote is Magic for Dummies.
Great format, good explanations, outstanding list of authors.

Martin H is "right on" about Harry Lorayne's The Magic Book.
Written for the lay public, it literally starts with the basics: i.e., how to shuffle a deck of cards, etc.
No props or anything fancy needed, other than a deck of cards, some coins, pencil, paper, and paper clips and the like.
It's first-rate for someone who wants a solid grounding in magic basics.

You could try one of my websites, called http://www.LearningMagic.co.uk/, which includes many books suitable for beginners.

The site is far from finished (what site ever is?), but it might be worth a look.
