I just received a used copy of Bird Watcher that I bought on Ebay. However, it is missing the black ribbon, and the instructions. Can someone PM me a copy of the instructions? Also, is the black ribbon required for the trick to work? Or, can I use any black ribbon (maybe someone can provide me the details including the dimensions). Thanks!

MrWizard and Nicolino were kind enough to offer the instructions. Just have to find a suitable ribbon, and I am looking forward to doing some "Bird Watching" soon.

Tenyo's website has a tip for doing it without the ribbon if you like.

Any ribbon will work. One of Tenyo's best effects in my opinion, one that I actually perform regularly

The quality of the cards is great. I expected cardboard, but the cards are really solid.

Instead of the ribbon I use a cardboard strip (cut and tape-hinged at the middle to fold for carrying). This seems easier for a spectator to handle.

If you want to replicate the black ribbon exactly, the measurements are 15 inches long by 3/4 inches wide. John |

Hi all
this is my 1st post after many years just watching from the side lines, after reading this thread I remembered that I have a Bird watcher T-181 and I can’t find the instructions, I don’t suppose any one could help me out with a copy could they? I would be most grateful Thanks for reading Mal Walker.m17@sky.com |

I finally decide to buy this Tenyo trick, it is awesome !
I am very happy with the product, nice looking image, plastic solid prop, and a trick with multiple phase, each one more baffling ! They are too many “quick” trick in tenyo catalog, this one is not. BUT Before receiving it, I imagine to do multiple phase like one without the ribbon, then with ribbon, then in the box…but now that I know the secret, I think it is not such a good idea (Afraid to get same number which will spoil the mystery I think) Those who perform it, how many times do you do it ? I think it is a good idea for the second phase to turn any 2 cards like mention in Tenyo instruction. best |

I usually do it twice. Once with the ribbon and once in the box.
My story I use with it is that after camping out in the woods for many years I have become very proficient in bird watching. If fact I can instantly spot how many birds are in a tree at any time (phase 1). Not only that but I can even hear how many birds are in the tree without looking at it. (Phase 2). I'll generally put my ear next to the box so I can hear how many birds are in there. |

I use a fancy ribbon I bought in a 'clothes accessory' shop, 2.5cm (one inch) wide. Black with a reflective stripe in the middle, looks 'magical'. I too do a three stage performance, because this CAN be repeated, in fact it gets stronger every time. You should somehow have them believe (sort of) that you can quickly count birds. My kids believe that, kind of. My wife doesn't, and thinks I just quickly add up those numbers (which I could, but 5 times slower ;-)). So they are both puzzled by stage 1 and 2.
Stage three with the closed box just baffles them. IMHO you need the build-up, and step-by-step you exclude every possible explanation, until it becomes almost impossible with reading through the box. Although I am inherently not a mentalism fan, I really like this trick, I bought it when it came out in 1997, and have loved it ever since. Enjoy! |

Hey xl18 I really like your phase 2 "hearing how many birds" I will use that ! Thanks !
Thanks Jitterbug ! But I wonder in all 3 phases, you let them have a complete free choice or you follow Tenyo instruction ? You are not afraid the same number to show up ? I played with it yesterday and now I understand why in phase 2, Tenyo instruction advise to turn over 3 cards...this insure to have a complete different number (I don't say more . The last phase in the box is so powerful that I think I will ask to reverse 1 card only and pile up...it is already crazy to be able to sum up all the card while in the box So great, I have my 3 phases ha ha Now I have to practice. |

This is a marvellous trick. Totally underrated in my opinion. One of Tenyo's best.
