This is a kind of review about a fabulous work on a particular oracle by Les P Cross.
First of all you should know that this work and this oracle wasn’t created for mentalists who rather want to fake a reading than to genuinely give one. The book is for readers. Obviously any oracle can be combined in one way or another with mentalism sequences. But that’s not what Astrogem Geomancy is originally intended for. It is a tool for readers. Apart from this I have to say in advance that I’m a little biased in this case because we supported Les with regard to some technical issues during the publication process – nonetheless I like to tell you something about the book’s topic and content. Geomancy as such is one of the ‘forbidden’ oracles – one of the seven magical arts forbidden by Johannes Hartlieb, physician to the aristocracy, in 1456. It is basically divination by the signs and symbols of the Earth. There are geomantic figures (geomes) determined during a reading that build the basis of your interpretation. The system Les P Cross describes is both reworking an ancient system and innovative in his approach to do so. Richard Webster who has written extensively on readings and reading systems described the system in the foreword of the book as "… the most ground breaking advance in geomancy since the Renaissance." WOW! Now even if the basic idea of the oracle may appear complicated, Les taught me the core of the system in less than fifteen minutes. Obviously there were not all details and implications included in those few minutes, but from first hearing about it to being able to give a reading took less than quarter of an hour! The system as such can be used for impromptu readings as well as for answering specific questions. You can give relatively quick readings but expand them effortless to full-length consultations; for individual and specific issues through to character and life-time readings. Now personally I am usually anything else than a practitioner of astrological methods. I rarely use gemstones, I never felt comfortable in working with runes – and ‘Geomancy’ as such was barely more than a term to me when I was allowed to start studying Les’ book with its first paragraphs. So my estimation of the book's value is definitively based on other aspects than a review of a literate practitioner and experienced reader who uses similar methods for years and years like Richard Webster. Anyway – because of this admittedly limited prior knowledge on the general subject, Les’ introductory chapters offered me a great overview on the topic and its background – detailed enough so that I could follow his thoughts, methods and approach easily, but brief enough so that a more literate reader of books on astrological topics and Geomancy (and it isn’t hard to be more literate than me with this regard) don’t get the impression of redundant informations I think. The naturalness alone in which Les' proceeds a balancing act like this is charming! Even if I’m a reader (of sorts) on my own, I usually don’t utilize formal oracles. So what astonished me most studying Les’ deliberations was the amount of benefit that I found in his book nonetheless. Not only the inner logic of the geomantic figures’ (geomes’) construction is intriguing, its especially what he creates from those geomes once they are there. Les invented a particular system to interpret those geomes and to develop a reading based on this (the Four Level model) – but even more he takes those figures and unfetters them (literally) from a somewhat static meaning. His thoughts on the flow of geomes and the option of even identifying an ‘evolution’ of particular figures becoming others by expanding or contradicting and emphasizing on the development of their meanings are simply brilliant. It is obvious how valuable this option is in giving an otherwise rather time-referenced reading a more dynamic flow in the sense of talking about the sitter’s personal development with regard minor or major phases of life for example. As I said, using formal oracles usually don’t fit my personal approach in giving readings. But these thoughts and cognitions were absolutely inspiring for me and helped me to reflect and develop my own approach – even independent from the Astrogem Geomancy topic. The same is for Les’ remarks on some general points about readings, like ethics, the importance of asking a good question or about timescales within questions for example. Highly valuable foot for thought no matter what. To be completely honest, if I wouldn’t have supported Les in some technical aspects during the production process of his book, it would have been highly probable that I wouldn’t have purchased a work on this topic. I would have ignored it based on unfortunate unawareness. But what a loss this would have been to me! Lesson learned! Thank you, Les! If you like to get a little more information about the topic you can take a look at the website http://www.astrogemgeomancy.com . ‘Astrogem Geomancy’ is a real book (not an e-book) of 177 pages, produced with high quality materials and binding. The price is £20 ($31) plus shipping; to get it you should contact Les directly at lespcross@gmail.com for paypal details. Now, as I said, I’m a little biased because we supported Les in some technical aspects during the development of this publication. Nonetheless I think I can highly recommend this work to all of you who like to learn an ancient, genuine oracle system and its actual take on it! Best Th. |

Thanks Thomas for that great review and more importantly letting us know that Les finally released this work.
Knowing Les this item will be very useful. I am grabbing a copy very soon right after I finish repairing some storm damage from high winds at my house that happened when I was on the road. I know I can use this with my Crytsal Point reading system and will kill with it at a psychic fair or giving readings at my parlor. For those of you who do not know Les,you will have no idea why I so thrilled about this work. Are the Geomancy Cloths available as well? And does Les have them for sale? |

Yes, I think he offers the corresponding cloths optional.
On his website the cloth looks like this: You should drop him a line. I think those cloths are manufactured on demand only. |
