"Magic Digest" by George B. Anderson was one of the first books I got as a teenager (many years ago - I am almost 60) and it is great. It is a large book, about 8 1/2 x 11. It covers a great variety of tricks from close-up to stage as well as magic history. His writing reminds me of Harry Lorayne in that he clearly conveys his enthusiasm for the art and for his effects and the directions are crystal clear.
On another Tpic in another forum, Necromancer pointed out that many of his other books/pamphlets are still for sale at Magic Inc. (see http://www.magicinc.net/search.aspx?find=George+B.+Anderson). Anyone have any coments on these items? (You Can Read Minds Too, It Must Be Mindreading, My Favorite Easy Mental Card Magic, Overcoming Magic Hazards, The Magic Pendulum, George B. Anderson's Lecture Notebook, Let the Audience Do the Show, My Favorite Sucker Card Tricks) I am suspecting many of these are oldies but goodies. Thanks in advance. Howard |

Howard,
I agree with you; "Magic Digest" is a wonderful book. It is just what the title implies. It would be on my list of 10 "favorite" card books. Because of your post, I've jsut ordered his "Favorite Sucker Tricks" and "It Must be Mindreading" from Magic, Inc. THANKS! |

Hello Guys,
Magic Inc. publishes most of George B. Anderson's magic books (unfortunately, not the Digest). Most of them are still in print, and can be found on the link Howard posted. As things would have it, this month's issue of our book review VLog "Have you ever heard of...?" is about "My Favorite Easy Mental Card Magic" by George B. Anderson. If you haven't checked the VLog yet, you are in for a treat. Danny Rudnick finds old hidden gems in our catalogue of publications, performs the trick and offers a book review. If you would like to check this month's review, and past issues, here's the link: http://www.magicinc.net/haveyoueverheardof.aspx |

Magic Digest is a great book to get someone interested in magic. A good selection of a wide variety of magic along with history. It's a fantastic book and a sentimental favorite. There are a few used copies available at Amazon at a good price. I highly recommend it.

Adding to this old thread, I just picked up Magic Digest at a used book store for a few bucks and discovered it is a little gem. This book has a little bit of everything for someone new to magic. I am pleasantly surprised by this book as I did not have high expectations when I found it as I had not heard about it before.

The Magic Digest by George Anderson and the Magic Book by Harry Lorayne are probably the best beginner magic books - my favorites. After all these years, I still do material I first learnt from these books.

While I much prefer real books, and I was lucky enough to find a second-hand Magic Digest at a good price, you can also get it as a pdf from lybrary.com.
The content of this book is amazing. There's a full listing here: https://magicref.net/magicbooks/books/an......gest.htm Barry |
