I've been doing the standard scarf cantrip for years (tie around neck then pull through). I dress it up a bit, make it look like I'm tying something like a grief or square knot and pull it tight with enough slack in the loop for audience members to nearly choke me to death without it unfolding. The aesthetic of a large, nice, flowing scarf is really striking but this is the only effect I have for the prop. Are there any better effects for the prop? And if there aren't, could anyone point me in the direction of good looking false knots that work with big, wide, and flowy things. Thanks for any suggestions, it's much appreciated.

Many of the effects in Chapter 20, Volume 3 of the Rice Encyclopedia ("Naughty Silks") will work with a scarf. If you don't mind attaching a little something to assist in the operation, effects from Volume 2, chapters fifteen and sixteen (Reel Magic and Reel-Less Magic) are also applicable.

The moves you are looking for and many more can all be found in the Daryl three DVD set of "expert rope magic made easy", and the Karl Fulves "Self working rope magic"
The Rice's "encyclopedia of silk magic" is another great source.

Thanks, it's a great help. As a card worker I find that I am thoroughly ignorant when it comes to rope. Hopefully this will be the first step in fixing the issue.
