It has got to be Cups and Balls

Greetings and Salutations,
I second Mario's selection. The cups and balls has everything: misdirection, sleight of hand, appearances, dissapearances, solid through solid, transpostions; you can play it surrounded, close-up, or on virtually any size stage; with patter, a story, or silent to music. For a "routined" effect, the cups and balls are hard to beat. That's my $.02 (USD) worth. YMMV. Joe in KC Live a great adventure, have a magical life! |

I'll give a third to the cups and balls. It's the effect that embodies all that is magic for me.

I like the sponge balls, they always get a great reaction from spectators and lots of participation. But I am working on linking rings and they are quickly catching up and possibly passing the ole' sponge balls in the favorite category. I just recently started trying them out and I can now let the spectator hit my ring and they "link" the ring themselves-awesome responses.
Anyway, Linking rings and sponge balls. |

The Endless Chain ( Fast & Loose ) is a classic. Another card effect that gets good audience reaction for me is Maximum Risk that's in Darwin Ortiz's new book Scams & Fantasies.
Self concept is destiny..

Reformation (or a variation there of!), cups and balls and an escape if it turns into a ring show!

I change on this one a lot. But today I would have to say Borrowed Bill in the Lemon.

The Ambitious!

Ambitious is a good routine with near-limitless possibilities, but in terms of variety, it, ahem, doesn't do that well. The misdirection can also be a little flimsy, depending on your audience and skill. I would have to agree with the majority here on the cups and balls.
