I recently pulled out a trick I got about twenty years ago, but I don't know the name of it...
It is a small wooden frame in which six cards can fit. The frame has a square hole cut in the middle of one side, that a single die will fit neatly into- (you can see the cards through the hole.)
I place the frame on the table. I ask the spectator to think of a number from one to six. Then I hand her the die and ask her to, when I turn away, to put the die into the hole, with her number side up, so everyone can quietly see her choice. She then needs to pick up and hold the die, or pocket it.
I turn back around, pick up the frame, and pull the cards out. I look through the cards, select one, and place it face down. I ask the spectator to name her chosen number. I turn over my selected card to reveal that the values match.
