Perhaps an accompanying narrative would compliment a brief act.
A man and a woman, both in their 60's, decided to marry. They were both widowed, neither had planned to marry again, but when they met, marriage gradually became what both of them wanted. The bride-to-be was visiting with a friend who asked her, "Where will your new husband take you on your honeymoon?" She replied that he wanted it to be a surprise, but that she thought she had it figured out. The friend asked, "Well where do you think he will take you?" "To Southeast Asia," she replied. The friend said, "Wow, that would be some honeymoon. Where did you get the clue?" The bride-to-be whispered, "Well, one day he told me that after we marry, he'd show me where he got shot in Viet Nam." George |

Not really mentalism, but this fits the bill really well and can also be used around tables after the main presentation if desired.

5 minute act is just one sweet and short shot. From experience, anything involves prediction and the bride will home run!
Good luck bud. |

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I think I'm going to do a version of seven keys padlock.

Keep in mind that the bride may well NOT want to take her ring off, which could make things rather awkward.

Bob's right but that's not a surprise! Some folks actually believe those rings will be on forever Depending on the age of the participants and, er, solemnity level of the event, there are other things to link to or through to achieve the same event. For instance, I have turned it around and run the lock through the top of the fly (around the hooks) of the gentleman's trousers and turned it into a reverse chastity belt bit. If it's a more serious/older audience or couple, you can symbolically bind one's hands with a ribbon and 'lock them'. As I usually use a ribbon with the effect, I always have one.

Paul Brook's Juxtapose:
From the site - You are stood between two people who are either good friends, or in a relationship. In this instance it is a man and woman who are married. The man is given a business card and asked to think of any two digit number and to secretly write it on the business card, but not to show anyone. His wife also has a business card containing around forty numbers written on the back. She is asked to select any four of the numbers and add them up, silently. On the click of your fingers both parties will name the number he and she is thinking of. A few moments pass. You click your fingers. Man and Wife both shout out "eighty three" at the same time! Both are utterly shocked beyond speech. Not only that, but as a meaningful keepsake the man can keep his card, and the woman can keeps hers. But is it a mystical connection, or a sharing of their psychologies! Not a bad effect for two business cards and a marker pen
