I have a zig zag Rocky by Ickle pickle and they use plastic for the blades. I want to change the plastic blades and use metal. What type of metal would you experts suggest and where to buy it. It will have to be cut as the same size af the plastic blades. Here are the type of blades I want in this video that Harry demos. Any one know what metal this is and where to get it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbk0Wwpec14

The blades are aluminum. You can buy small sheets of it at Lowes, Menards, etc. If you don't have means to cut metal yourself, you'll have to go to a sheet metal shop. Or, go to a trophy shop. Ask them if they will cut pieces of aluminum for you. They use the stuff to make plaques.

Thanks Michael. What type of saw cuts this?

This type of metal (probably .025) is best cut with a guillotine shear or a pair of snips.

This is amazing. Last week I bought an used Ickle Pickle Zig Zag and that is what I did not like either. I used some metal, I had laying around. I'm not even sure what kind of metal it is. I used a hack saw to cut them out and grinded the edges with a grinder, and then put handles on them.

Looks good wizardpa that is what I want to do as well. IF the hacksaw did the trick I should be able to make these up as well. I just have to find the metal.

Steve,
I have another piece of metal just like the one I made my blades out of. If you really want, I'll cut the blades out for you. Just pay me $5 to send them to you. You can make your own handles if you want. |
