Any opinions/reviews?
http://www.magicmakersinc.com/p-671-pro-......iff.aspx "This highly deceptive contraption will dazzle audiences with ease by transforming objects or even making a new object appear out of thin air. The spring activated trap door swings faster than the blink of an eye, so the switch seems to happen instantaneously! This effect has endless possibilities for performance routines. Colorful instructions include 3 suggested routines including switches with dollar bills, silks, and appearing cards." |

I have personal experience with Magic Makers tricks, not this new one of course, but I am sure it will come broken, or brake within a few uses. Looks like the only thing it can switch is a folded dollar. I don't see where this is deceptive enough for real world use. It may be okay for an in house birthday party standup show, but as I see it, that is about it. Doesn't look like it can be held or handled by a spectator, either.
It will look nice setting on a shelf being dusted every week, though. If anyone is considering purchasing a Magic Makers product, always search different sites, as all Magic Makers products are sold with an 80% markup. |

I haven't seen the trick live but I bet my bottom dollar there will a loud 'click' to indicate to the spectator that the magic moment has just occurred.
Unfortunately the music used in the video doesn't do this element justice.

Yes, the visual - if it can be trusted - is great. However, one wonders what the compromise may be, and if the quality of the visual aspect stand the test of time before breaking.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

It has a surprisingly quiet operation and is overall a lovely bit of kit. No 'nasty' surprises. Great for producing very small / squishable objects but I'm not sure how reliable the vanishing side would be. (Think: car window wipers.) Feel free to ask me questions on this thread or PM. |

I think this might be the first I've seen of it in this format, though. Now that you've had some time with it, what do you think of it? Is it quiet enough to use in a close setting? I imagine the right material for both the box and the gimmick could dampen any sound enough that if a spectator did hear it, they'd just assume it was the motion of the object appearing making that noise - like it "dropped" out of nowhere into the closed box. I like that it looks like a jewellery or trinket display box - quite unassuming. With the price tag, I am more concerned with durability. It's on my "wishlist" for now. |

Do they make any switch box that can be handled by the spectator?
From what I saw on the video, looks best perhaps for a production. You can see the angle where the bill would be. |

There doesn't seem to be any prices for this mentioned on the site.

As with most MM products this is a copy of an item put out previously. The original was called I believe "Force Majeure" and made in Israel in the 90's. I have the original and it was very well made and continues to work today. The photo pf the MM copy looks very close but I have not seen it to compare quality of build. The quality on some MM items has been OK, it is unfortunate they continue to "borrow" ideas with usually no credit and Rob Stiff sticks his name on the items. Price for this version seems to be in the $80 range, the original when I bought it in the 90's was I believe $90.

It would be nice to hear from a customer if the noise is audible in parlour or stage situations or sth

There are better clear box card transposition type effects which are more practical in their size and reliability. The red silk version works visually but for me is a little old fashioned and is pretty obvious the box does the work.

A possible way to renew this old device Colin, I have the old version of clear box with the red ribbon. I LOVE it. My solution has been to place spring bills in the load zone with the card so that the big wad of cash appears suddenly and I have the spectator remove the card from under the cash. Adds another layer and always gets a big reaction because of the sudden FULL box of cash. I bought two to have a spare and have used the first one for YEARS with no issues. Maybe ok not to send it to auction?
Another way I have done this is to have the spectator place their card in the deck then vanish the deck in a "devil's hank" type device above the box. Then the deck appears INSIDE the box instantly and their card is in the middle of the deck, inside the box, and the only card that is face down! A very effective illusion. |
