Harry, I was hoping you would see this and comment. Yes you AND Betty White look very young. Any memories to share about this? Was it a big deal for you at the time or had you already done a lot of national tv?.

When the panel was guessing what you were doing, I imagine the work was really done by then, am I right?

It was affective the way the tossed they tennis balls out to make it clear that you hadn't just memorized a few select faces. But I remember seeing you on TV shows where you literally named each person in the audience. It took a while but you made it entertaining.

It was my first national TV appearance - it was 1957 or 58. To prove that I could do it (and I've written about this in BEFORE I FORGET) they had me do it OFF CAMERA, after the show had aired (it was a live show, remember) the week before. And no, I was really doing the work when they showed me doing that work. And yes, after that I always simply called off all the names/faces in the audience whenever I did a TV appearance. Best - HL.

I'd love to see Harry Lorayne doing magic from that era too but I'm not sure it exists. I think at that time Harry Lorayne had decided to be known as a memory expert only. He was concerned that if people knew he was a magician they would assume his memory work was a trick.
