A lot of people (including me) don't like the false reveals a lot of routines use, but let's say that you are doing a routine that uses one. At the end of the routine you can say: "But now that you know the secret... I must kill you!" as you say this you produce a hand grenade as a final load. I don't personally think this is a good idea, but just for kicks, what do you think?

Hmmm, you might find yourself having some uncomfortable chats with government security types 😄

I think this is hilarious! However, I suspect I would load the grenade (many novelty companies sell dummy grenades) and say something like "now that I've shared the secret, I have to watch out that the Magic Mafia doesn't hear about it or they might do something to make me disappear." Lift the cup and yell "OH, NO! THEY FOUND OUT ALREADY!" That makes me the comic victim instead of a perpetrator.
Just a thought. -Patrick |

If on a stage the grenade could "explode" vanishing you in a puff of smoke. You could then appear in the back, or have that be the end.

I think a resurrection from the dead would serve as a good encore.

Coming back from the dead...hmmm...
Doesn’t the Cyote pull it off every Saturday morning? And several times? Your idea could be met with huge laughs or complete silence. That’s where showmanship and the construction of your character and act come into play. I have a brilliant idea for a hilarious routine that I don’t do because I couldn’t pull it off. it’s just not me.

Well, THAT'S certainly begging the question. OK, I'll bite: Care to share? A "hilarious" C&B routine sounds like new territory.

I'm not talking about a hilarious cups and balls routine, Mark.
The point was that a grenade could be hilarious or could be really really bad. It's all up to the performer.
