There is a set of these same slates on KT Magic, up for auction. The listing doesn't specify if instructions are included, but you could ask if they are and possibly get a copy. Unfortunately, the auction ends tomorrow night and you may not see this. Will PM you.

Reviving this old post but assuming you got an answer....because I have a note on this also over on the Tricks for Sale/Trade site regarding full set including instructions galore!

Does a piece of chalk fit between the two Dr. Q slates? I have slates and it is impossible to do this with mine.

You might try using a square white pastel stick from an art supply store. If it's too thick, you can sand it thinner. It will appear to be chalk and you can write with it and erase it like chalk (if you don't get the oily kind!). I used to get away with using a wooden dowel painted white. Before showing the slate, I would pretend to write my name on it (already pre-written in chalk), show the writing, erase it and then lock it between the slates for the spooky writing to appear.

I have Dr Q slates from Owen's, and at least when it comes to them, a regular round chalk fits in between them with a good margin
