Just a heads to anyone who is interested in, or currently using, the Apple Watch feature. We received notice from Apple that there has been a recent "business decision" and "magic apps are no longer allowed on the Apple Watch." Information that would have been useful a few weeks ago right? So they have asked us to remove that feature from the app. Which doesn't make any sense to me as the phone does all the work and the watch just gets the notifications. So far they are not budging but we are appealing the decision. But there may be an update coming soon that disables the watch feature. As an alternate plan, I think we can rig up iphone to iphone connectivity so that one device acts as the sensor and the other one does the notifications to the user. it's disappointing but on the other hand the watch was never very practical as it is constantly trying to go into sleep mode and so the app isn't active anyway. So for now Apple is not willing to even talk about it. I figure there must be some middle ground or something specific they don't like about the app but all I can get is very general responses, and in some cases they are obviously not even reading our appeals.
So of course if the watch is a feature you have been using and we do end up having to remove it, you can get a refund from Apple. |

Absolute garbage!!! Had I known they would pull a stunt like this I would have never bought this piece of crap watch. I have patiently been waiting for my apps to show up on my watch .. it was the reason I bought the dang thing. Had I not just upgraded my phone I would go out and buy an android this weekend. Tim Cook can take a long walk off a short pier.
I want Apple to refund me the cost of my watch and 5 generation of iphones and thousands of dollars in apps. I was going to rely on the remote vibration of the watch to tell me when an item was removed from a bag. This totally hamstrings the app.
All small town magicians know what 793.8 signifies.

Yeah it's frustrating. From some of their replies its obvious they didn't read what we sent them or even the description of the app. I was looking forward to the watch to see what developers could come up with and I don't understand Apple's reasoning for hating on magic all of a sudden. Actually they didn't have a reason. Just kept saying it was a new policy.

Could there not be a workaround by not calling it a magic app, but a scientific app or something like that?

Possible, that's a good angle. Throwing around the word "magic" in our app submissions has actually been a good thing for myself and other developers because Apple doesn't like apps that seem "deceptive" as they put it. But of course an app used by a magician is suppose to be deceptive. So if we drop the "magic" angle they might take issue with things like the blank screen that appears when in use. But thanks, that's a idea I'll run past my programmer.

Ok, when I go into App Store it still say it offers on watch, is that wrong then, or is it back on the watch ?

I just found an update note in the description of the app, and it will be removed on the next update.

Correct. We have to release an update soon as there are a few minor bugs (turns out the new iPhones have a magnet inside which throws off the calibration) but apple won't let us do that until we remove the watch feature. So for now that's what we will have to do while we come up with a plan to make Apple happy. Hopefully we can tweak a few things and resubmit with the Watch features and see how they respond.

IPhone 6s and the 6s plus. They mechanism that creates the vibration is magnetic in the new phones versus mechanical in the previous models.
