Made me feel very uncomfortable/ (Actually, there was one chap who actually came up with a funny routine that didn't have any sexual undertone. It helped he performed to my whole group, rather than just me.) How many of those championing this trick would perform it to a bunch of guys? I'm betting very few of you, which shows you all know the undertone this trick has. Put yourself in the position of the women this trick is being done for, please?" You want to argue semantics here? Just because you did not specifically and very literally say that you think ALL guys performing this will come off as creeps it does not excuse the fact that it was essentially what you were suggesting. Your post of "Wow, someone bought this?" clearly demonstrates that. Pointing out that handled incorrectly Magix can come off creepy is a WORLD of difference from you "Wow, someone bought this?" and "lots of magicians are far creepier then they think they are, especially around women." You've basically done the equivalent of saying that nobody should be buying this because virtually all performers are inherently creepers. I don't think you're a feminist or appear to be one that I can note but you've clearly have been incapable of distinguishing the trick from the performer thus bad performer must equal bad trick. We are discussing a effect (or should be discussing a effect) and thus discussion should be on topic. A effect should be looked at OBJECTIVELY and then the decision to purchase and/or use the effect is entirely subjective of course because it's a matter of personal preference/choice at that point. |

No, basically this thread seems to be people accusing others of intentions of rape or 'creepiness' over a condom trick.

Well, the first paragraph at least. I'm sure that made sense to all.

Remember Mystery - The Pick Up artist? This seems like something he would have used on his show.

I received mine today. It's a well-made gimmick. I don't regard the cost of refills to be prohibitive at all.
But, I did find two things a bit disappointing that have already been mentioned: 1. You're basically getting half an effect. There's no discussion at all about how to start the routine, preferred methods of !@#$%^& the card, the motivation for putting the deck away and leaving you with only one card in your hand, etc. I'm sure there are many here who find that sort of tutorial superfluous and unneeded. It just seems very strange that you're basically buying the punch-line of an effect....but there's no discussion of the entire performance. (In fairness, the pitch video didn't include a performance either; only the end of a performance. Very strange.) 2. I was disappointed that -- in order to get the gimmick to work as shown in the video -- requires scissors and the advice to "be very, very careful because you don't want to hurt the gimmick". WTH? How am I supposed to know what will hurt the gimmick? I don't know how it's constructed! Why would they assume I do? You CAN do the effect without altering the gimmick....but it requires two hands and is about 10% as visual as what you see in the pitch. What's particular annoying is that the explanation for #2 is, "We wanted to give you guys the flexibility to choose which way you want to perform it". I think it would probably have been more honest to say, "This is the only way we could have them manufactured and it's not really what we want but we're going to pretend this is a feature, not a bug." Overall, I give the actual product a B+. The gimmick will probably hold up for hundreds of performances and -- for a worker -- I don't think $2 is expensive for the impact. With all that said, I won't be doing the effect myself other than for my wife or maybe a friend or two. If I'd put more thought into it, I would have realized that it's a nonsensical trick. There is absolutely no motivation for the effect at all. And I was so awed by the visuality of the effect (which, again, can't be done without modification) that I didn't really stop and think about how problematic it is as an effect. So, that's on me, not the makers. P.S. I just realized that my box only has 7 performances and the gimmick. It's missing FIVE performances. |

My two cents: I've got this last week and I tried to put it flat inside a book as it is suggested in the tutorial, expecting I would not have to cut the gimmick. Unfortunately, the only way to have it transform as slick as in the video is to cut it as it is explained. I agree with Tony that ideally, it should come already modified. I firmly believe there is this engineered flaw with the gimmick that sould not be ours to fix.
It is also mentionned in the video that the largest magnet would help the gimmick to transform with the help of gravity, however, in my gimmick, the largest gimmick is in the bottom part, so not helpfull at all in my case. I also believe for a vesrion 2.0 of this trick that the condoms packages should not be already sealed. Instead, they should be just like Instant T so we can seal them ourselves, which would allow for different types of routines. First that would allow us to choose which card we are forcing. For example, I could see a routine with the Queen of Hearts and a borrowed ring where the ring would end up with the card in the condom. This type of routine could take a romantic turn with a sexy twist and would give a proper excuse for using a condom. We can load a ring into Instant T, but I don't really see the point in doing that (just another ring in an impossible location), as a fidelity/infedility plot makes a lot more sense with a condom. Maybe the glossy nature of the condoms packages makes it impossible to seal it in the same way Instant T can and therefore must be done at manufacture time, I don't know. I like very much the effect as it is (which is the transformation of a card into a condom). What I am still strugling with is the reason why I would do it in order to rise above the basic sexual nature of the condom, which would make it a lot more effective for a wider group of spectators. |

Have been playing with this for a little bit in the past few days. Hands down my favorite card effect. The visual change is shocking, that follow up beat when they realize what the card transformed to makes me giddy, perfect moment here for the clean up and handing out of the loaded packet, then finally when they realize what's inside and open the thing. So many great beats from a quick little effect.

Great effect but needs refills as I'm not going to keep paying full price when some of that is for the secret. Same can be said of instant Tea, another effect from the French twins, great Magic but its a rip off to expect Magicians to keep buying the full effect just because you can't be bothered or are unable to sell refills????!!!
