What’s sad to me, particularly in this case, is that it wouldn’t have been difficult or time consuming to DO the research in the first place - not that difficulty or time should ever be an excuse. But Imp devices are pretty ubiquitous in magic/mentalism and their history Is not hard to find.
I suppose one could argue that in other professions, acknowledgement and/or credit isn’t necessarily given when a new product based on an old idea is released. But this is part of the “culture” of magic and even the newest newbie learns that pretty quick if s/he is paying attention. Failure to acknowledge and give credit where credit is due, is more than just sloppy … I think it’s disrespectful. |
