Hello Experts,
I am interested in making a remote controlled clock by myself. It will not do anything fancy. Just an analog clock where I can set the time I want by using a remote surreptitiously. I have a couple of routines in mind that can be done with this. I want to make it myself as some of the available products are too fancy and some cost an arm and a leg. Also if I build it myself I can tinker with the look and presentation of the prop along with the remote distance. Is there any resource that I can follow to make it myself? Can any of you point me in the right direction? Thanks a lot in advance, Soumyajit

You'll need a micro servo motor, transmitter and receiver.

Coding something like this would be very complex also.....

I am expecting it to be tough but doable I suppose, unless it requires complex machinery other than the parts. I will start R&D on it after couple of weeks. I need it, that's for sure.

I can't remember the name but there is a Christian Magician that attends the International Fellowship Of Christian Magicians that makes these. It is quite simple it just takes some electronics which he will sell you to install in your clock and it operates off of a regular TV remote. You just set the time by entering the time into the remote and the clock will start winding around until it gets to the correct time. I'm sorry that I can't remember his name but you might write the FCM president or someone who attends the yearly meeting and they might have the name. He has several items like that and is a electronics wizard. I built one of these my self and it works great. I hope this helps and you find your answer. I will continue to try to find his name for you.

I just found out his name. His name is Claus Pekaus, I'm not sure how to get in contact with him, but if you check around the FCM section someone might know how to contact him.

You set the clock to 12 o'clock to start with. When you enter the time with the remote, the clock starts and the electronic package counts the pulses of the clock and stops it at the correct predicted time.

I wonder if it would be possible to have so many 'presets' where you would just have to push one button, and it would move to a given time. True, this would limit the spur of the moment stuff you could do since you would only have a choice of however many preset times you can get..but it would mean less chance of getting caught since you're not having to set the time somehow, just push once. I'm far from any sort of electronics/mechanical guy, so I don't know if this is possible, but it's a thought.

Thank you so much markofmagic. That is something I was looking for and as soon as I am back from vacation I will try to contact Claus. Thanks again
Peregrine: A number of settings will be cool but I think with enough misdirection it will not be an issue, especially if people don't know something like this could even happen I will not start my tricks by showing a clock rather it will be reveled with a kicker at the end. The clock will be in a box with a spectator. At the end the spec opens box and finds clock with desired time on it
