I really hope this is the right place to ask this question.
I’ve come across what seems to be a set of Gary Animal's Street Devil cups for sale and am very (very) tempted to grab them - however one small thing is giving me pause: the hallmark in the pictures. Now I've seen cups with his traditional GA hallmark found on the interior roof (example: http://imgur.com/ZhRx1GX * Note: this is not a picture from the set up for sale, just an example of the hallmark that I'm familiar with). The cups that are for sale have a very different hallmark that looks like it was scratched in along the interior side (picture: http://imgur.com/sIQuiJA ). It reads: GA - St. Devils Final Set * and from what I can see at least this particular cup has no other hallmarks (picture: http://imgur.com/2Sb1TQ7 ). Now I’ve never come across a set of his street devils in person before and am not sure if Gary hallmarked all of his work the same way - but this is very different from what I'm personally familiar with. So I thought I would turn to some of the experts on here for a second opinion. So what do you think? Is this a legit hallmark - just unique to this particular set of cups - or was I right to be hesitant about pulling the trigger on this sale? They look like a great set of cups, but I'd hate to pay a premium for a set that wasn't actually made by Gary. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! More pictures of the cups in question. http://imgur.com/5g8jjsi |

I've never seen a copy of the Street Devils in the secondary market. Does the seller have provenance? Is there a receipt for this set from Gary Animal? I recently saw a set of the SDs on the big auction site and the seller wanted over a $1,000.

The top of the cups have marks from the mfg. process, maybe they are some kind of seconds? Gary used to sell seconds of his cups, indicating that they were seconds

Gary started engraving the insides of his cups after I telephoned him about someone ripping off the Gazzo cups. I'm pretty sure he did it for that reason, however could be a co-incidence. I can't see the pics, if you want to PM me any r add a link perhaps...

Gary always stamped his cups from him. There were 2 making Gazzo cups. RNT II and Gary. The ones without hallmarks were RNT II.

I was actually thinking that they might be RNT2 cups. It just seems too good to be true (but, man do I want to believe).
Here's another picture of the scratched in hallmark on the side of the cup that hopefully everyone can view. Click here to view attached image. |

I purchased a set of street devils from Gary and they were "signed" with an engraving gun, but previous sets were stamped GA.
Nothing would get done at all, if man waited so long that no one could find fault with it.

Those are Gary's cups. As I have already said, Gary started engraving the cups.

Thanks so much for the clarification (I totally misread that earlier post). They definitely look like they are the real deal.
I really appreciate all the help on this & thanks again to everyone who shared some of their expertise! |

Definitely Gary's cups - and also the leather bag handmade by Gary too. Noce cups
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler

Does anyone know if Donnie plans on spinning the Street Devils in the future? This set closed at $878.00 on eBay. Free shipping.

Eli,
if you want to send a picture to me I can tell you. If I'm not mistaken the original spinner for Gary, and Elderly gentleman just couldn't spin them anymore because of how thick the copper was. Again that is only hearsay. I haven't seen Gary on any of the forums lately. My email address is bbw100@icloud.com If you can send e a couple of pictures I can tell you if they are Gary's, RNT 2's or a knock off. Cheers, Mad Jake Sr.
