I am teaching the lesson: "Who Should Be In Charge?" - the underlying message is really that Jesus should be the one in charge of your life (obviously we get to choose if we make Jesus Lord)
What ideas could possibly illustrate this concept? |

As far as I remember Duane Laflin used the Joker Tube / Strat-o-sphere in a routine he is calling Priority Balls. It's at one of his DVD's (The Art of Gospel Magic) and in the Grand Magic Magazine.

Who sees the road ahead more clearly... us, or Jesus the sovereign king? Not only is he all-knowing, He's trustworthy. We need convincing of what we know to be true: Christ is God, and God can be nothing but good.
Maybe Slydini's paper balls over the head could illustrate why it's better to trust God who sees everything. That's only half the message, though. Omniscience isn't helpful unless joined with omnibenevolance and omnipotence. I'm paraphrasing, but "Which of you, if your son asked for a fish, would give him a stone instead?... So if you, being evil, give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him?" Perhaps you can have a bag filled with a mixture of good candy and yucky candy. Each kid can ask for the good stuff, and you, as an imperfect being, can fish it out and give it. Our God is immeasurably more trustworthy. After all, you might give a yucky piece by mistake. It'd be funny for the performer (not a kid) to eat a bad candy by mistake. Kids would go nuts watching you react and spit it out. Sometimes people fear that God isn't in control. Imagine how Joseph felt after being sold into slavery. No coat of colors, no jealous brothers. No jealous brothers, no slavery in Egypt. No slavery, no Potiphar's wife, no exaltation from prison to Prime Minister of Egypt, no enslavement of Jews in Egypt, no Exodus, no Moses, no Torah, no Davidic line, no Christ. But everything happened according to the sovereign plan of God, which can't be thwarted. Which raises another issue: you will serve God's purposes, willingly or not. May as well fall in line with God's plan, so you can enjoy the benefits of obedience. Just tossing out ideas to get to the heart of the matter. Why can you trust God to do a better job of running your life? It's an absurd question, isn't it? Lord, help us trust in your goodness.
The secret of deception is in making the truth seem ridiculous.

I have purchased 36 scripts from One Time blind.
Here is one of them. The Stool. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=S3qh2dJxUy8 I hope to find other church members to form a skit team. Some may be turned into puppet / vent or one person bits.

I have got the props together, but I haven't been able to do the trick yet. Have you ever seen the trick where you tie up your volunteer by tying the rope around the knees, then twine the rope around their arms and finally tie the rope behind their neck? You must first sit them in a chair, and tie their hands behind their back. You pretend to "hypnotize" them, then do the tie described above. The verse you use is where Paul says "put ye on Christ." Teach about that a minute or two. You take your jacket, (or any jacket) and place around the shoulders of your tied-up, "hypnotized" volunteer, and show how easy it is to "put on" the jacket, and take it off, illustrating how many people play at church. They can "put on" Christ, or take Him off at their convenience. Which means they really never "put Christ on" to begin with. THEN you begin talking about the ones who make that real commitment. You raise a small curtain in front of the volunteer, hanging on a short rod, and when you lower the curtain, your tied-up, "hypnotized" volunteer is now actually wearing the jacket, the ropes are wound around the arms on the outside of the jacket, and you turn the chair around to show the hands are still tied. The jacket is not coming off, illustrating the truth that when you "put on Christ", this is a permanent, lifelong commitment you do not break for anything, or anyone. I actually made a "lazy susan" to put the chair on, to facilitate turning the chair around. As I said, I've not done this yet, but I can't wait to try it. You need a "volunteer" who is in on the trick, and the two of you will need to practice this a lot to get it down pat. If you do this, please let m e know how it works out for you. Click
