Could anyone point me in the right direction to where I can get transparent ball shells?
I'm developing a bubble act and would like to add multiplying a ball routine, so I'm after any balls and shells that under stage lights would look like bubbles. |

Vernet Magic makes multiplying soap bubbles, sold at many on line stores.
Fantasma Magic in New York city sells multiplying soap bubbles as well. |

I used to have FANTASMA version. It's looks realistic compare with Vernet , and included the gimmick bottle.

Go to your local craft store and find transparent Christmas ornaments. You can cut them in half and go from there. We have them at the local Hobby lobby almost year round.

Some are already in halves, but the Thorn is in the UK, don't think they have a Hobby Lobby there.
My suggestion would be to look in a craft store, but if using a shell, there is extra work to do, that is not easily done at home. |

No we don't have Hobby Lobby in the UK, but I get what our scary friend Stucky means regarding craft shop Christmas ornaments.
I've been looking at the transparent balls for sale in UK stores, however I've not found any with the sheen of bubbles. If it looks like I'm just playing with clear plastic balls the magic is lost.I've ordered a set of Fantasma multiplying bubbles. Now I'm looking for something larger and heavier so I can also juggle large bubbles in the same routine. And they need to be unbreakable too of course! I wonder if there's anything I can spray on a clear plastic ball to give it that unique beautiful look of bubble under stage lights? |

There is Acrylic clear contact juggling balls.
I would not paint the balls. |

None of the multiplying bubble sets I have seen have that opalescent/irridescent sheen you are looking for. There are clear mediums that will give you that look but I have not experimented with them myself.
The ones that crack in half have a noticeable seam line on the edges. You want ones with little to no visible seam lines.

They are $15 at Penguin Magic. That includes an instructional DVD.

Well I've just got hold of a set of the Fantasma soap bubbles.
Appearance wise they do look rather false and plasticy and have a very noticeable seam, so I wouldn't want to use them for any close up performance. However it's stage work that I wanted to get them for and I think from the distance of a stage they should look reasonable. So I'm happy to use them as a learning tool and to play with, and possibly use in a few show situations, but I'll definitely keep a look out for something more realistic. |

I'd recommend acrylic contact juggling balls. They are difficult to obtain in small sizes but Oliver Tabor in the UK sells them. Try contacting him. If you want shells, many craft stores have transparent balls which are already in 2 parts.
