Is there a salt substitute that pours nicely and doesn't corrode? Thanks!

No there is not, I have tried other products, but none work as well as the real thing.

Super fine white sand would be less corrosive but would still be a fine particulate so, still a "sanding" effect.
You might check out sandblasting supplies or Aquarium supplies. Aquarium sand would probably be less toxic risk. Keeping a silica packet with it might keep it dryer and flowing better (but since sand is basically silica I'm not sure if it would help), couldn't hurt. -Mary Mowder |

When I tested white sand, it was 10 times heavier then the same amount of salt. It also did not stream as nice, just kind of fell very fast.

IF a person wants to do the salt pour, the best solution to not having it go to the floor is to use a container that is not metal as in copper or brass.
I have mentioned this before, the best solution is to put a drop box on a short table and line it with a small garbage bag. I use those slip on binder spines sold at office supply stores. Here is a very good drop box that folds flat. http://www.laflinmagicstore.com/product-p/mpdudb.htm |
