I hope someone here can help me with this...
I am looking for a table like Bill Abbott's Pack Smart Table. I do not do the cups and the table needs to be very small and can fit in my carry on luggage. A typical Tri-pod stand will not work because it takes up too big of a footprint with triangle legs. A tray-jack obviously won't fit in carry on plus it would be overkill for my purposes. A spring loaded harbin style table is too flimsy and gets blown over by the slightest amount of wind. A percussion Trap table stand only folds down to 28 inches which is about 8 inches too long for my carry on. All of the portable laptop tables have a weird way of attaching to the stand, making them un-usable. Ideally, if anyone knows where I can find the bottom half (table base) similar to that of the Pack Smart Table, I'd be able to make a top with no problem. Hope you can toss some ideas my way. Thanks! |

Table base alone:

I have an InStand.
http://www.instand.com/CR3/cr3.shtml It's so light and surprisingly strong. The top is just a flat tray with a non-slip surface on it. As long as you're not putting a lot of weight on it or doing something that's going to mash down on the table, I think it would work great. You can also get a close up mat cut to fit it. http://www.pattricksmagic.com/pattrick-s......13377124 |

Thanks for all the help, but none of these options actually fit the criteria.
I do believe I found something that packs less than 16 inches and holds at least 10 pounds, which is way more than I'd ever need. An a table top of my choice. I had to put together several different unrelated items to make it work. I will test drive it in the next couple weeks and let you know how it works out. Thanks again for all of the suggestions. |

Hi Chris,
I will post a pic soon. I want to give it a test drive for a little bit and make sure it holds up well and nothing goes wrong. Thanks |

Chris,
Here are some specs. on the table I made and have been using for the last week now. I'll put some photos up as well. I had to hunt down the different pieces to make this work. It's kind-of a Frankenstien table made from pieces I had to order from several different places. I made this table that packs small enough to keep in my carry on luggage and is strong enough to take a beating. My inspiration was the Pack Smart Table, which is no longer available. What I've made is something I call "The Workers Table" It breaks down to 18" long and packs flat. Below are the specs between the Pack Smart & my Workers Table Pack Smart Table Table Top 14” x 9.75 Workers Table Top 14” x 9.75 12” x 9.75” Pack Smart Tripod 15.5” Workers Tripod 18” Pack Smart Lowest height 16.5” Workers Table Lowest height 8” Pack Smart Highest Height 40” Workers Table Highest Height 48” Click here to view attached image. |

Hey guys,
Thanks for your interest, but I'm not sure if or when I'd be making anymore of these. I have all the parts, the problem is time. I'm on tour until November. Around September, I will be doing a 2 month festival in my home area and that would be the soonest I'd be able to knock out a few more. BUT, don't get your hopes up. Thanks again, Mike www.VillageIdiotMagic.com |
