Yes!! That’s the only display I use the key for as well... I’m not sure how much stronger it makes the routine but as someone who’s been holding 4 rings the same way since I was 8 years old (rings was the trick I begged my parents for after they bought me a magic coloring book...) that clean 4 ring display is just pure magic to me.
JNeal / Ray... have either of you worked with proline rings at all? |

Thomas,I have only worked with and own the rings & things, suds rings, and Van Dokkums rings.
I have seen and handled the Owen Rings. My Suds rings have been used for 42 years and still in excellent shape. Don Don |

Don... I wonder if my 8” set is Suds, I wasn’t familiar with them but I googled them and they could be!
My parents bought me a lovely 8” set from magic masters as a kid. They are great quality and I always have wondered if they were maybe rings n things... but perhaps they were suds... very interesting! |

My Owen rings (I only own two!) are heavier than the two that Joe made for me.
Both have wonderfully closed and invisible seams. My sense (now) is that the tone is less pleasurable with the Owen Rings... but in my (old) routine, I try never to allow the two to clang.. so the sound is moot (no pun intended)

I may have the instructions to the rings somewhere.... but I’ve yet to find them. Still a great set of rings that I use when the Owens would be over kill |

Dear Thomas:
Ring quality back in the 1970's was great. My suds rings have not done any chipping or flaking at all. My Rings and Things rings are a ten ring set with a locking, standard key and oversized ring. They are both 10 inch sets. The Van Dokkum set is 15 inches in diameter with the standard vernon six rings. |

My set of Proline rings recently arrived and they're wonderful. The locking key is beautifully made and works without any fuss. Any magician looking for Owen quality rings can't go wrong with Proline. Stevens Magic Emprorium still sells these, and you can contact Cliff at Proline.

Caveat emptor
I simply wanted a set of linking rings that had a resonating sound to them. To protect potential buyers: a timeline of my experience with Cliff Wiggs at Proline Magic…my sincerest apologies for the length of these facts. March 29th, 2022-I placed an order for 4 rings and sent a payment of $275 through a purchase order. An expectation is set by Cliff for 3 weeks to manufacture. May 2nd-First email inquiry sent to Cliff to check progress of rings and first excuse from him with a promise he would get back to work on them. May 31st-Second email sent and second excuse with promise to have them out in a few days. July 5th-My Southeast Alaska State Fair gig (the reason for my purchase) is fast approaching. Email sent to Cliff. He responds with a promise that they will be finished and in my hands by the end of the month. August 13th-Email sent to Cliff. A promise is made that they will be sent the next day. August 22nd-Cliff emails me of his own accord for the first time saying that he is back to work on the rings. August 25th-Cliff sends an email saying the rings are ready and asking if I’d like to add a new, “Ultra-shine Finish” for an extra $10 per ring. Reluctantly I pay him more money. He says they’ll be shipped the next day. August 31st-I reach out to see about getting a tracking number. He responds with more excuses and delays. September 11th-I sent email asking for an estimate of when the rings will be sent and a picture of their progress (so I know they are actually being made.) He responds by saying they will be in the mail by the next day. No pictures. September 15th-I sent an email inquiry. September 17th-He responds, saying that they will go out on Monday and he is very happy I opted for the Ultra-shine. September 19th-email sent requesting tracking number. September 20th-He responds that the locking key ring has developed an issue and must be remade. He must order more metal and this will take (?) days. I finally lose my patience and tell him I’m fed up and that I don’t think I will ever see these rings after so many broken promises. He says I will have the rings in hand by the next week. September 29th-I send email inquiry about progress. He responds that he’s back to work on finishing them. October 5th-I send email inquiry. He responds that he’ll try to send them the next day. October 7th-I receive email saying he’ll get them out by Monday. October 11th-I receive email saying that they will be sent the next day. October 12th-The tracking number is finally sent. October 17th-The rings arrive. I open the box. They look smudgy and handled. Where is this $40 “Ultra-shine”? They are scratched and tarnished in places, almost like he gave me an old, used set of rings that had been lying around. Fortunately, they have a beautiful chime to them but even the TCC rings look more beautiful and clean. These rings are worn. Was it all worth the 6 and a half month wait, the 56 emails and the broken promises? I’ll leave that to you all to determine.

First of all, I would like to specify that I am French, a 63-year-old magician. I've been checking the Magic Café regularly for years but don't post given my broken English.
But this time I also want to share my bad experience with Cliff Wiggs at Proline Magic. I'll make it shorter than aLittleMentalist. On April 21th, 2022-I placed an order for 3 rings including a magnetic key and sent a payment of $270. A delay of a few weeks was announced for the manufacture. Having received nothing and no news at the beginning of July, I got worried and sent a reminder message. Mr Wiggs replied that his expert welder was in an auto accident but he had just returned to work. In September still nothing received and following a new message Mr Wiggs replies "I will get your order on the way in a few days." As of October 22, 2022, I still have not received my rings and am very disappointed. Now I am considering filing a complaint about a purchase made on a foreign website with the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network, (ICPEN/ICPEN) or another alternative. I ordered ProLine rings direct as well. Several delays, not as bad as some of the stories above but similar emails. Clearly there is a pattern. I don’t think he can handle the workflow and isn’t really honest with people. If you can handle an ‘I’ll get them when I get them approach” I guess it’s fine but it is disconcerting. Steven’s sometimes has sets in stock which is clearly the way to go

I finally received my rings from Proline after a delay of more than 6 months. The rings are of good quality, in particular the magnetic key and I do not regret my purchase. But you really have to be patient and my confidence in Proline was sorely tested.

I was finally able to use my Proline rings at a gig last week. I thought it would be appropriate to update my experience with them since I posted some pretty scathing facts above. I cleaned up the smudges they came with and they shined up nicely. Even though there are still scratches on them no one in the audience will ever see them. They handle very well. And they sound incredible. Cliff, you make a good product but your lack of communication and expectation setting needs improvement. Ultimately I am happy with these rings.
