I was thinking of adding a stand-up cards across routine (a la Bill Malone) to my wedding show. Have the groom to one side, the bride to the other, and talk about...
how important it is to give as well as receive in marriage, or... how to test if a couple is "in sync", or... sending "love" to each other, or... ??? (any great ideas?) I think this could fit a wedding show nicely. Has anyone done something similar in the past?

I second Anniversary Waltz. I saw Doc Eason spontaneously perform this for a wedding couple, and it was amazing!
As for Cards Across, I think it's a good idea. But be very careful what sort of patter you include. You don't want to cast any doubt on either of the participants' devotion or sincerity! |

Very good point about the patter. I'll be careful.
Anniversary Waltz is great and I often do it for couples close up, but it's a bit more difficult to play to a large audience from a stage.

You could also consider Jon Allen's Wedding Trick described in Experience - The Magic of Jon Allen as it plays well for larger groups.

Fraser.... I have done this for a large crowd at a wedding reception. Even though the audience can't see everything going on, if you explain clearly what is going on, they get it... and if the bride reacts to the incredible fusing of the cards, they really GET IT.

Get a blank faced pack of bikes and before the performance have family, friends and guests write personal messages of well wishes to the married couple and then perform a cards across with the deck themed around these well wishes and how everyone sends these wishes to the new couple. After the performance give the deck to the couple as a personalised memento which they will treasure.
