We live in an amazing time.
On further searching for the routine, I found that it was published in a Spanish book. So, I searched for that book and found that its available both as a book and a digital version. I purchased the digital version. The book does have the routine but I don't know Spanish. So, I go to google translate to upload it. They say file is too large. So, I split the pdf to extract only the relevant chapter, upload it and translate it to English. But google messes the formatting. So, I use another tool to translate it to preserve the formatting. So, in 15 minutes, I have the routine in English. Amazing time. |

When Google translate didn't work, what other tool did you use? (If you don't mind sharing).

I used https://www.onlinedoctranslator.com/
It uses google translate internally but preserves the formatting of the document. |

It is published in a Spanish book titled: La magia Española del siglo XX, by Miguel Angel Gea and Juan Gallego Luque, pages 295 - 299. This is an amazing book, but only in Spanish. The routine is hard to do and only for f**o s*****e enthusiast.

Tamariz and Woody Aragon refer to this trick in their books but I'm not familiar with it?
What's the basic plot? |

A brief summary of the routine is provided in Mnemonica on pages 169-170. It reads, "In short, Luis's routine consisted of breaking the seal on a new deck, fanning the cards to show their faces blank and, after some flourishes, making the numbers, spots and pictures appear. Then, accompanied by poetic patter, he did eight out-faros, which as you know bring the deck back to its original order. The incredible thing is that, throughout the routine, you explain to the audience that the shuffles are perfect weaves, and yet the final effect is a true miracle." (Mnemonica, pgs. 169-170)
There was a parenthetical note regarding the effect description that reads, "There is yet another version in the EMM Circular, No. 62, 1980, p. 68, j, and in my Spanish book on Val Evans's Multieffect Cards, Tricks 10, 11, and 12, pp. 48-51, as well as in the Winter Extra Issue of The Jinx, 1936-1937, p. 177." What I think is interesting is that Garcia is not interested in concealing the fact that the shuffles are perfect weaves. I would not go so far in my own performances to call attention to the perfection of the shuffles, but I find that many magicians are far too concerned with concealing their faros. Although this does not have to do with the premise of the effect, it caught my attention. |
