Hi, I'm Oliver from Frankfurt/Germany.
I'm an amateur magician with only a few gigs per year (could be more, I'm working on it!). I have a stand-up show that I do for weddings, parties etc. As a day job I work as a civil servant in court and I'm a part time non-medical practioner for psychotherapy, working mainly hypnotherapeutic. I've been interested in and doing magic since I was 8 years old and started as a paid-performer at the age of 15 (mostly I had gigs as musical solo entertainer, playing the keyboards, adding my stand-up magic). I took a break from performing for about 16 years, due to personal/health reasons, but never lost my passion for magic. Since 2016, I'm back on the stage. I'm constantly working on refining my stand-up material and expanding my repertoire, and, although I have only a few gigs, not a day without doing or thinking about magic goes by. It really gives me so much. My 3 main interests in magic are: 1. Stand-up (my show is comedic, not too serious, I love the styles of Hobson, Meller, Greg Wilson (I also do pickpocketing)), 2. Mentalism (the older I get, the more I get interested. Because I'm a hypnotherapist, there's a natural connection for me, although I never used hypnosis for entertainment and probably never will) and 3. Strolling/Table-Hopping (I never did that, but it's a goal, that I want to achieve. I'm currently working on material to be able to offer that one day). The Magic Café helped me a lot in the last couple of years, although I never really delved into it too much (but I will do from now on). I'm not a member of a magic club (I'm just not a clubman) and I honestly don't know another magician around here, so I'm not able to discuss magic with anyone. So, a platform like the Magic Café really gives me the opportunity to do just that. There's so much valuable information here. Just reading the topics, I believe, here I will find some answers and inspiration/ideas that I have been looking for for a long time and hopefully I will be able to contribute something to the community myself. |

Welcome Bestsinger74,
I also think about Magic every day (and play with the Magical props scattered around my easy chair). It does bring a lot of joy into my life. You'll love Strolling Magic. It is very personal and great fun. I only wish I did more of it. I'll see you in the threads. -Mary Mowder |
