A home made "devils napkin" is what I used back in the day. I won't go into it's construction, as you can find it in many magic books but use these type of handkerchiefs (bandanas really) https://www.amazon.com/Elephant-Brand-Ba......bandanas You could get 6 gimmicks from just the one set. at $15 that's just $2.50 per napkin. How can you go wrong? They are common place and acceptable as "ordinary". Give them a try.

Hello
Unfortunately our Black Artefacts change bag has been out of stock for some time, however the good news is that I am having some more manufactured and they will be with me in the next couple of weeks. They are slightly different from the previous ones as they are in a thicker material. Please watch out for the new bags: www.blackhart.co.uk/changebag.html Regards Keith Hart

Making one isn't too difficult as it is very straightforward and you can make any size and style you want. You can also make one from Malini's Egg Bag by stitching the hole up and opening the upper seam but it is quite small.

Guys, it is very hard to make something you know nothing about, thus the reason for purchasing. There are a lot of little features, even with the old envelope version, that one needs to be aware of when crafting it. Necroface, is looking to buy an opaque force bag.
How interesting that everyone wanted a clear force bag, when they were not available. Now the they are, someone wants what everyone else should have lying in a draw. Why not just offer to send him the one you will never use. |

Barry Mitchell sells cloth bags made in a variety of different materials. Yes, they are all printed materials, but they might be able to supply a plain one.
https://www.barrymitchellproducts.com/pr......ange-bag Here's a plain green one. https://www.barrymitchellproducts.com/pr......ange-bag Here's a triple bag, that's also rip apart. It comes in a variety of colours, including black. https://www.barrymitchellproducts.com/pr......ange-bag - Donald P.S. The reason that Barry has such a large selection is because his wife Sherry sews. https://www.facebook.com/sherrysewing/

Again, some are suggesting Change Bags, Nicroface is looking for a [b]Force Bag[b], and I would believe he also needs instructions on how to use it, with additional suggestions.

Some change bags could be used as a forcing bag. You're going to have to explain to some of us why a pack flat style of change bag can't be used as a forcing bag, especially because the original poster said he doesn't want it to be clear. He hasn't specified if he wants plastic or cloth or another material. I own several change bags and I own several pandora bags (a pandora bag is a mesh forcing bag, made by creative magic). And I've seen and handled clear plastic forcing bags.
How do you know how Necroface wants to use it, and that he needs instructions on how to use it? Have you been in contact with him via PM, so you have more insight? Or are you just going off of the information in his post, like we all are? It's possible that one of these other options might work -- he hasn't come back on the thread to comment. - Donald

I do know how to use a forcing bag. The problem I have with change bags is that they look very gimmicky. A clear plastic bag doesn't feel as classy as a stitched up bag. I wanted to try and keep the bag simple. I made my own out of clothe and it wasn't bad, but I wanted something a little more professional, thank you everyone for your suggestions and help.

This bag was also mentioned on another (older) thread, but the link was dead. So this is the current link.

Making a Devil's Handkerchief is such an easy project that you could probably make one up in an hour - less time if you use a sewing machine. This effect is listed in so many magic books that I believe that it is now in public domain, so here you go (if it is judged otherwise, I am sure the monitors will move it to Secret Sessions).
I went to Pier 1 Imports years ago and found green cloth napkins that had black bias tape borders around the edges. As soon as I saw these, I knew that they would be ready made for this purpose. By hand, I used black thread to stitch the two napkins back to back, using locking stitches, leaving the needed space between the edges from one corner to the half way mark. This works so incredibly well that I had to put a tiny dab of white paint on the edge of the opening so that I could find it. It is of thicker cloth and is better built than any of the ones I have seen in the magic stores. I have been using mine for about 20 years now. Not bad for less than a $10 investment and a bit of time... Always look through stores such as this with an eye toward your craft. Some of the best items I have bought for my show came from import shops, and they do not look like everyone else's equipment! |

For a more professional look, but cheap -- you can find women's purse made of cloth with large ring handles or ropes.
Maybe they are beach bags or called totes. That care very easy to rig as a change bag, assuming you want a person to reach in and not look. I also found a well made leather "flower pouch" from hippie days that has a false bottom flap. But my favorite has always been a "Change Basket" that cost almost nothing to make; is used to carry props and effect changes, swaps, forces, etc because it has three(3) natural compartments/separations. So, you could have a bunch of random objects dropped in, and force two different items to two different spectators with the basket you carry your Cups&balls in. "basket" can be any shallow but wide container where it makes sense to have a large napkin inside. Ever been to a restaurant where the rolls come in a basket with a napkin/towel that folds over the top to keep them warm? Just have two kitchen towels sewn together across the middle. The compartment switch can be made when passing the basket from hand to hand. I mention C&B because I use one to carry them. Then it is a natural place to set aside one cup when I only need two, When I get the third one back I wind up with a pre-loaded warehouse. Magic!

I have some that are double sided bank bags... simple canvas bags with two sides and a zipper across the top. Can't get much less gimmicked... and easy to use. I bought a bunch as prototypes, but decided to not use them for the trick.
I'll sell them at near cost.. plus shipping |

You could try contacting Seams Like Magic to see if they would make one to your exact specifications.
http://seamslikemagic.net Also, depending on item being used for selection you could try the non-gimmicked bag approach. I use felt dice bag bought from a game store as part of a mental epic routine. It is tossed to an audience member. |
